I want to order a new antenna mast from Rock Auto. I have a choice of "Short Mast" OR "Long Mast". Is one better then the other for reception? I just have AM and FM. No navigation or satellite
What came with the car when new? I have a new base and cable.
Thanks.

I replaced the whole thing and got perfect reception + I dont have to worry about braking the mast.

I had a long antenna on mine when I bought it. Accidentally snapped it off pulling into a garage when the door wasn't completely up. I replaced it with a short antenna.

I have noticed that reception didn't change in the city, but when you are in the lesser populated areas, reception can get spotty. And in some areas, only the strongest stations come in.

When reception is spotty or lost, a CD in the player, an MP3 plugged into the AUX outlet, or Sirius comes into play. ;)
