I joined a couple of Nitro groups on fb but they weren't very savvy. I need some guidance, not pictures of putting 22's on. So here's the story.

I've ended up with two nitros, both not running. An 08 slt auto 4x4 and an 07 R/T auto 4x4.
The RT has no motor so no mystery why it doesn't run. I can't find a replacement for a decent price.

The slt turns on but doesn't crank. Nothing from the starter at all. All the electronics work except the starter. So I swapped the TIPM from the R/T to the slt and it cranked right up.
What in the tipm controls the starter? I swapped all the external relays and have replaced ALL of the internal relays but it didn't change anything.

I have two 2007 nitros, I drove one about a thousand miles on a trip , got home , then one morning it wouldnt crank, security light flashes then goes out by jumping the solinoid starter works, you can jump the 30 and 87 pins on starter relay, it cranks, but wont start ( no ignition , or gas ) computer or tipm has to okay the start or it wont. I took tipm from other 07, installed it + it cranked and started right up, started a few times, then couple days later , no crank, put tipm back in other nitro, now it won't crank. I read on another post that connector c1 pin 49 pink wire w/ white stripe , on tipm should be a 12v + with key on, mine has 12v + there , a friend with a shop printed a couple sheets with the starter circuit, showing where the signals for the starter relay come from ( ingition switch and other is engine module ) pins 85 and 86 on relay. I've scoured the forums and have yet to find where the problem lies, can't find anyone with the answer of what it could be. one Tipm rebuilder tells me they replace all the relays, others just the bad ones, one sells rebuilt tipm with lifetime warranty, but none can tell me if they are able to tell if their rebuild will cure the cranking issue, and if their checking the tipm would even show the problem, I've seen the question about TIPM schematic, some one posted there are none, I replaced the motor in one of my nitro's and have a 2007 3.7 engine 131,000 miles that needs heads, one head could be rebuilt, and have the valve seats pinned in, other head has damage where rocker arm broke lifter pocket, from a dropped valve seat, still ran pretty good on 5 cyl

i can only pass on what other members have said about TIPM's in the past i have never replaced my TIPM, only repaired it (10 years ago ),
if you swap a TIPM the new one has to be programmed with the correct chassis number for it to work correctly,
the Nitro schematics are in total 130 pages and as all the electronics pass through the TIPM you need all the pages, but they do not show the electronic internals of the TIPM, just what wires go in and out, between the ignition key and the starter motor the are quite a few modules that need to be working, i can post a screen shot of the starter motor circuit, if you think it could help ?

Nitrogen, the schematic will definitely help at least to enlighten me about the starter circuit.
Jwmont, any schematics you have might be useful too.

After reading these responses I am worried about frying my r/t tipm if I leave it in the slt.
As for programming, other than the engine and transmission both have all the same options as fast as I know. And isn't there a way to let the car reprogram the tipm automatically?

sorry about extra pics, never posted them before, the 85 86 pins on relay receive the signals to operate relay 86 from neutral or park , 85 from ign switch sensor, not sure how to check to see if signal is coming from ign swi sensor, or if it gets lost in tipm

here's another diagram with some differences , I read in a post somewhere that when you jump solinoid on starter, key must be in starting position for motor to start, neither of mine don't start.

Thank you so much, that's excellent! I'll be reading over these this weekend.
I've also emailed with Maks tipm rebuilders and asked about the start circuit so maybe he knows something more than I do so far.

He said the starter relay can go bad (of course) but that is a standard external relay. And since I've already replaced all of the internal ones I know it isn't them.
He said he can test my tipm if I send it to him so maybe he has a way to test more than just the relays.

first i would check for 12v+ at the pink/wt wire in connector C1 pin 49 underside of TIPM, 10 years ago i had a no crank issue ( which i caused trying to fix a door lock issue ) i traced it down to this wire being the cause, and recently another forum member found the same, it is part of the ignition system and it was like the TIPM just switched it off,
there are several pink/white wires so be sure to get the correct connector,
the wiring diagrams jwmont posted are the same as mine, if i find any more which could help i will post them here,
other things to consider are the TIP start feature all nitro automatics have it, but is it internal and controlled by the TIPM, don't know of any way to test it, the CANBUS system, you can test to see if the CANBUS is communicating between modules ( SKIM is communicating with the TIPM) but you would need to see a youtube video about that test,

It is running but I am worried about frying the R/T tipm since that seems to be the story with everyone else.
And it has been sitting a long time so it needs other things too.

I've actually got another thread going about alternative sources for the 4.0 engine. I'm trying to figure out if the fwd blocks are the same as the rwd.
