Hi all,
hey, here's a guestion for anyone about the frame structure of the back seat. Why the springs in the seat legs? Seems like far too much engineering. Thanks.

rear seat leg supports

they seem like they could just be solid formed legs supporting the rear bench seat, but they are an involved multipiece design with springs involved for tension???!!!???

Sure does provide for some rear seat comfort. I'm impressed with the legroom. I can sit in the back seat comfortably, and I'm 6'1!

Do the springs have someting to do with the fact that thr seat lowers slightly when the back is folded down?

I can't answer your question about the back seat, but I can tell you that this is a great site. The people are friendly and helpful and there's a ton of good ideas if you're looking to mod your Nitro.

OK so I looked.
If you look closely under the seats there is a release cable connecter to where the upper and lower spring arms join.
Pull the back release and slowly pull the back to its folded position.
You will see that the cabe pulls at the junction of the two spring arms to lower the seat, to enable the back of the seat to come down flush with the rest of the rear compartment.
In the Jeep this movement is more drastic.
