Welcome to the forum Jasper Jay.

When you have a chance, head over to the Newbie Section and say "Hi".
Tell us a little about yourself and your ride.
That way we can welcome you all proper like.

That all depends on which engine you have? 3.7, 4.0, or 2.8 CRD?

The sensor in the 3.7 is in front of the intake.
Did you get the correct sensor? I just went through this with my daughters Cherokee. The parts place gave me the wrong sensor...
Have you changed the T-stat? Did you get all the air out of the system?

I had everything replaced which includes t stat water pump new fluid drained and a new engine coolant temp sensor. It still shows that the car is over heating and it beeps at you like your going to blow the gasket but it is not over heating. there seems to be something running together on this because the electronic throttle control warning light also is coming on and after i shut off the car and try to restart is stutters and does not want to kick over. I let it sit and it will start back up. I am thinking of taking it to the dealership but like to fix things on my own if possible! Thanks for listening

Disconnect the Neg (-) battery cable for 10 minutes (computer reset).
While it is disconnected, check the + cable is tight at the TIPM(fuse box).
Also check the + cable on the battery is clean and tight.
If you took the + cable off the battery, connect it back on first! Then connect the Neg cable to the battery(the horn may/may not honk, that's normal).

Always disconnect Neg (-) first then Pos (+), reconnect Pos (+) then Neg (-)!
NEVER disconnect the Pos (+) with Neg (-) still connected, and NEVER connect the Neg (-) without the Pos (+) already connected.
If you do it backward, you can fry the TIPM, as another member here learned the hard way...

Does the heater blow HOT air?

I will disconnect the negative tonight. A friend wants to check to make sure the radiator is not clogged and flow is good. I do not think that is the problem but will rule it out so we can move on. I am thinking of trading it in...lol Thanks for the info will let you know if I get it fixed. Yes it blows hot air and it is horrible in the winter for getting hot air. I think there is a clog in the heater core which is another problem to address.

I tried the battery and checked the fuse box emptied the radiator and flushed with a hose re-filed and still have the same issue. I called dodge and I am going to put in an original equipment engine coolant temp sensor in and if this does not work I am putting it in the shop.....ahhhhhhh

Hopefully the sensor is the issue. It was in my case above...
