What did the plugs look like? Check the right side cam timing sensor. Check the wiring. It's also a good idea to remove it and clean it. Over time, metal sticks to the tip. Gunk buildup will also hurt it. When enough metal sticks to it, reading may throw off timing.

Connect a fuel pressure guage. Knowing fuel pressure is a big help. You can borrow a gauge from a parts store. I just bought a set from Harbor Freight. Having tools like compression and fuel testers have saved me a ton of trips to parts stores.
