Every now and then I get a pop or a bang in the back roof area. Like something has landed on it. Like an apple or a baseball. But nothing has really hit it. It's happened on more than one once. Could it just be the metal expanding or something. I really don't want to put up with that for 5 years. Thanks.

This exact thing has happened to us! We were on a paved, tree lined back road and heard quite a bang. It was plenty loud enough to startle us.... ....And it did sound as though someone had lobbed an apple or baseball at us and hit the roof. We finally decided it was a big black walnut hitting the roof. I could find no evidence later at home of anything hitting us though. Weird....

No noise on mine but I did have a acorn hit a Jeep roof and it was loud and left a small ding

Hi Everyone
I am new member.I have had my Nitro two weeks.One recall first week. I to heard a bang going to work the other day. It was the first cold morning this year so don't know what is up with that. I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and not many Nitros around here.I have had eight Dodges in thirty years.Some good some not so good but the build and fit on this one first rate. Made in March 07 so we will see if they got bugs out of it.My dealer ( 5 cars in 7 years has not had much trouble with Nitros so we will see what happens.

It must be the metal flexing. I have an old metal gas can in the garage & it pops & bangs all the time. Just so it doesnt go BOOM! But isnt NITRO GLYCERINE suppose to go BANG? LOL!

Check the roof rails. Our nitro was delivered with two mount screw caps missing.

My Nitro popped this morning. It was 21 degrees outside. Looked all over and found that it was the roof rail on the passenger side on the very front. It looked to be held in place by double sided tape that come off.

Recently I have noticed a similar noise when driving downtown San Diego, between the shadows from the buildings and bright sunlight hitting the roof while driving, I heard sounds like metal expanding and contracting. It was like a crack/pop noise from the rear area on the Nitro. I've had my Nitro for 6 months now. So either I've never noticed it or it just started making noises.
