I live in Phoenix, and my 2007 RT air won't blow cold. It has never blown more than cool, but if it is above about 90 degrees (remember Phoenix), the center vent barely blows cool on full speed with recirc on. It's been to the dealer twice, and they have even removed some coolant once. They say it meets factory specs, but compared to other cars, it just won't blow cold. Any suggestions? If I don't get colder air the Nitro goes.

I am having the same problem. The dealer said that it is working within specifications, 3 times.
Mine runs 53+ deg @ 80 deg ambient air temp. and takes 30 minutes of driving to cool the cab.
After much research, I found this information.
So here is what I found.

"Operate the heating-A/C system under the following conditions.
-Engine at 1000 RPM at operating temp
-Door or windows open
-Transmission in park or neutral with parking brake set
-A/C-heater controls set to Recirculation mode (max-A/C), full cool, panel mode, high blower and with A/C compressor engaged.

Insert a thermometer in the driver side center panel air outlet and operate the vehicle a minimum of ten minutes to allow the thermometer temperature to stabilize.

With the A/C compressor clutch engaged, compare the air temperature at the center panel outlet and the A/C compressor discharge pressure (high side) to the A/C Performance Temperature and Pressure chart. The compressor clutch may cycle, depending upon the ambient temperature and humidity. If the clutch cycles, use the readings obtained before the clutch disengaged."

Thank you, NitroTech for deleting the original chart Pic.
Here is a new one.

Now that I have this information, I will be making another trip to the dealer.

I have a great update. I bought my Nitro as a very low mileage trade-in at a Jeep dealership. I took the car in to the Jeep dealership twice with no improvement, so this time I took it in to a Dodge dealership, and they fixed it with no questions or fuss. Now I have to turn the A/C down after about 10 minutes even when it is 110-115 degrees outside here in Phoenix. Goodbye Jeep, hello Dodge!

That's is a great update, good to hear. It bears repeating again, if you aren't happy with the service from your dealer, try another, they aren't all the same and it can make all the difference.

Do you happen to know exactly what they did to improve it?

What did they do to fix it?

lewyb you must tell us what they did to make your A/C work. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

my A/C sucks too. I live in Edmonton, Canada & I can't cool my cab with it. Initially I was excited because last spring we had a few warmer days (15 - 20 c) & I had the temp set to cold without the A/C & it blew COLD air. When summer came around (20 - 30 c) I nearly melted even with the A/C on recirculate, vent, high. Now I just drive with all the windows open (except the front passenger cause it don't work) & turn the A/C on when I'm stopped. My 03 focus had better A/C than this. I've never complained about it here before because I thought no nitro had good A/C, but if lewyb has urges to turn it down in Arizona, it should work a lot better up here in central Alberta. I guess it's just 1 more thing to add to the list...again! :Racing:

Yes, please tell us what they did to fix it.

Need to have mine checked. When the AC is insufficient n SEATTLE, something's wrong.

I was just wondering...If you turn recirculate on & have the window or door open it will suck the outside air into the cab. This kind of counters the whole idea of recirculation. What recirculation does is keep the inside air circulating & makes it easier to cool the air since it isn't constantly trying to cool hot air that normally would come from outside on a hot day. Are you sure the window or door should be open??? :Racing:

The thermometer is in the vent, so it will only be affected by the direct output of the A/C. The reason for the door or windows open is so that the cabin doesn't cool down so much that the compressor turns off before the test is complete.

Way cool :) ottawa, Great find.
But it is dated August 9, 2008, That is today. Kinda hard to have it done before the release date.
I always knew there was something wrong with the A/C.
I will call on Monday and get this done.
Thanks

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

 Ok so I am having the same problem only thing is when i turn the temp control knob to either side there is no noise. I called the local shop here in Lawton, OK (I too live in Phoenix) and they told me it could be my blend door since it is not making any noise and just stays HOT! Any ideas on how I can find the Blend doors????

See this thread. No heat to the floor and no defrost. It is for the Mode door but you can locate the Blend door actuator in the Pic. Other posts in that thread talk about how they should work and what to look for when they are working.
Air Vent Diverter problem Has a good Pic of the mod door actuator (post 6) with a solution to their issue (post 9). Blend door actuator is very similar.

Crawl up under the drivers side dash with a flash light and verify the blend door actuator and cam is working when you change the temp settings.
You can also remove the actuator and see if the door will move manually.
If it is an internal problem, you can not get to the blend door, or any of the doors, without removing the HVAC housing from the vehicle, and disassembling it.
