Ac fan coming on then going off

I charged my ac and pressure on the gages was perfect then the fan shut off and the pressure went high then the fan came back on and the pressure was good again. When I drove it it cold but when I stopped I could smell some Freon is the fan shutting off and spiking the pressure so the compressor is purging some Freon. Should the fan stay on all the time the fan is on

ya, I'm thinking if AC is on, fan should always be on.

Everything stays cold?
Why does it shut off then come back on
Like I said I think I lost some Freon but still blowing cold
Why does it shut off then come back on
I had a weird problem like that with my previous minivan. It turned out an expansion valve was bad. There was one for the back A/C, and one for the front A/C. Only one of them was bad though.

My Nitro only has one expansion valve and I already replaced it
If you have a leak, and low on freon, your compressor will probably cycle on/off like that until there's none left.

Find the leak; repair it, then run a vacuum pump on it and see if it holds vacuum. Then re-charge and try again.
and if the compressor cycles on/off, so will the radiator cooling fan

That is the question why is the fan shutting off and turning back on when the compressor is on do I have a bad fan or relay
the A/C condensor is attached to the radiator and needs a constant flow of cold air, so when you switch on the A/C the radiator cooling fan switches on automatically, if the A/C compressor shuts off for some reason then the radiator cooling fan will switch off,
That’s what I said THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT SHUTTING OFF BUT THE FAN IS
you also said "should the fan stay on all the time the fan is on"
I did ask that also so why does it shut off then come back on when the compressor is on all the time
Is your issue you're overheating? Or not getting cold air out the vents?
