Adding "Factory" Sirius as a Dealer Installed Option
I'm working with my local dealer to determine if it's possible to add the factory option Sirius as a dealer added option. I have an SLT with the 24G package. The radio is model "REQ". On the window sticker it's listed as:
I assume this particular radio has a Sirius tuner built in but don't have any way to verify. There were approx. 10 other Nitros on the lot however none of them had Sirius as a factory option.
So... If someone with Sirius as a factory option could confirm their radio model (printed on the lower right hand corner of the unit) and upload a picture of it so I can compare, I'd really appreciate it! If you happen to have pulled the radio out of the dash and have a picture of the back, I'd like that too (a longshot but you never know).

Hmm, that could be trouble. Mine doesn't have the Sirius logo on it. Checking the "Dodge Nitro 2007 Authentic Dodge Accessories by Mopar" catalog I see two different "REQ" model radios with different part numbers. Part Number 05064113AI is described as:
REQ AM/FM Stereo with six-disc CD/DVD Player. Includes mini stereo audio input jack and satellite radio receiver (Subscription not included). Hands-free compatibility with factory UConnect system.
While Part Number 05107099AI is described as:
REQ AM/FM Stereo with six-disc CD/DVD Player. Includes mini stereo audio input jack. Hands-free compatibility with factory UConnect system.
The radios may be identical with the exception of the Sirius logo or they may be different one with the Sirius tuner and one without.
I guess I'll have to cross my fingers and hope for the best. If my radio doesn't have a Sirius tuner built in I'm going to have to go with a seperate tuner. I'm not going to pay $565 for the factory radio with Sirius unless the dealer credits me $520 for the one I'll have to pull out of my Nitro (all prices from the Mopar catalog).

You should be able to get the sirius as a $200 addon..The only difference in the headunit should be the tuner and antenna which is the $200 cover..They should be able to keep the same headunit..

I looked on my radio this morning and "REQ" is on the bottom right corner too so my guess its its same radio just with an added sticker (Sirius) and the tuner
There are two REQ radios and the sirrus is built in the radio its no longer an external thing

My sales guy is trying to get the parts dept to credit me for the REQ without Sirius in exchange for my purchase of the REQ with Sirius. He seems motivated now that it's post-purchase survey time.Ok, well either way they should be able to do it then...just would have to get the other headunit and run the antenna..nothing complicated - i dont see why the wouldnt....

I just bought the SLT 24G model and it comes with Sirius + 8 speaker system. Yours did not??? Wierd.
The 24 g package does not come with sirius radio. It is an additional option.
Oops... I stand corrected. I forgot that I got Sirius with my G because I added the MyGig (RER) package which features 1 yr of Sirius. You are right the G only does not include Sirius.
I just got the SEXT with one-CD - MP3 and Sirius Factory, Works Great Now I can leave the Sirius External at home
