Okay adding to the positives.....
I'll admit that I first shy'd away from the Nitro as it was the first model year but I felt fairly confident in the fact that it had the 3.7 L from the Liberty.
I've read about a ton of problems up here, and yes those are the vocal few. There are, however those of us in the silent majority as well.
I purchased the SXT Nitro giving up a fully loaded V-8 Gas guzzling SUV. I live 120-130 miles from any larger city so I was getting killed in the gas costs even though I only drive my car 1-2 days a week (I have a company car).
Here's what I can say about the Nitro, it's a whole lotta car for the price. The selling points for me were these: 1.) Color and style DEFINATELY 2.)PRICE was a big second, 3.)what I'll call "driveability" meaning how the vehicle, performs, handles, passes, etc., 4.) Safety Features (side curtain airbags, etc), 5.) 4WD.
I could probably list more, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. The vehicle definately turns heads and I've talked to quite a few from the younger crowd who are envious. I gave up a V-8 but this thing passes nicely and I will admit it scoots right along down the highway. I haven't towed anything with it yet, but am not worried about how it'll tow my boat after reading from those that have.
I plan on doing some "improvements" but I have yet to buy a vehicle off of any lot that didn't suit me to a T without some aftermarket "tinkering" so to speak. I have yet to have any problems with it other than some road gravel getting into the brake calipers, but that wasn't Dodge's fault.
Well, I hope this helps those that are considering
