Advice on replacing the factory speakers and adding a sub

I need a little help on replacing my factory speakers and adding a sub. A little background info first I know nothing about car audio my last two cars were used and already had an Infinity system but I replaced the factory stereo in both. I am not looking for anything with overpowering bass I am too old for that now but I want something that sounds good and is very clear, a nice clean sound. I asked this question to the guys that installed my headrest and he suggested Infinity Kappas. So I checked with an overpriced website to see what fits and the site that I purchase from and what I came up with is below. I would like to buy everything in advance except the sub box and the wires. So what amp would I need and is there anything else I need to purchase? I don’t want to go have everything installed and find out I have to spend another $300 on something to make everything work correctly. I know that foam stuff and other things need to be added but I am just talking about the hardware. Also, if you have a better suggest on speakers feel free to suggest but price is important quotes I have got is $1500 to $2000 that includes the custom box and installation. Thanks to all that reply.

First, i don't see any amps worked in. Second, I don't see any dash speakers worked in. And Is that 2 set(4 total) of the 6.5's Infinity Kappas. Is this what they sell? Not a bad speaker but for the money you can do better. But what kind of music do you listen to? It matters. I have used in my last 3 cars Polk Audio Speakers. I love'em. And If you buy at the right time you can buy 1 set and get the other half off. And I've also did a car in all Blaupunkt. It was a nice set-up for the expense. Good luck.

Yeah, I don't know anything about amps so I hoping for suggestions on one. Yes, two sets for a total of 4 they come with tweeters would those be the dash speakers? I am totally clueless about this. As far as music I listen to almost everything 60's, 70's, 80's, pop, hip hop, old school, alternative, techno, reggaeton, reggae, and sports talk, also movies. I have XM so I am always bouncing around to different stations so I would like something that will sound good for everything and if I have to adjust an equalizer for something I would like something one touch (if possible) so I can adjust it for the sports talk.
Thanks again

Ok so after reading about 1/4 of that stuff my eyes crossed so I stopped LOL! Sorry - not you just me being blonde today.
So anyways.... y'all can just hush up in the peanut gallery over there!

All I know is the base speakers that come with the SXT are crappola so we went over to the crutchfield site picked out a set of speakers - not too pricey - they showed up at the door a few days later. Hubby took about half an hour and swapped them out. And lo and behold the system sounds so much better! We still want to replace the rear speakers and put little ones in the dash but with the swap out to the six disc it sounds great now. :)

Here's my suggestion. $500 for speakers. $200 for a sub(no box). I would recommend you stay with Infinity everything. The amplifers I would use are Infinity Reference 475a 4-channel amplifier($250) for the 4 speakers and I would use the Infinity Reference 1300a mono subwoofer amplifier($200) for the subwoofer. These match the set-up you want perfectly.

it's a matter of personal preference,i've replaced all door speakers with coustic compressor triaxial 3-ways,dynamat all four doors and the sound changed dramatically. next i will install a sub (jensen 10") driven by a kenwood subwoofer amp,but first i'm going to replace the rear passenger panel with the one that will hold the sub. whatever you chose just keep it from viewing eyes in this case it's better to be heard and not seen:cool:

Ok, I will check into those amps thanks for the help. As far as the front speakers you mentioned earlier was I correct about the tweeters or do I have to add another set of speakers? Thanks again and to everyone else.

question on speaker replacement

When your changing out the speakers....how hard are the tweeters to get to and does anyone know what size they are?

Also, do the doors have to come off (inside plastic) or does the speaker pod just remove to expose the speakers?

IMO... I would go with comps and go with PG RSD 6.5's. If you can find them still they are 87 bucks, can handle 130rms with ease (i'm running 125rms in my stratus) and have some of the best midbass I've heard in awhile.

I'm not a huge fan of the newer infinity amps but sundown amps are fantastic! I'm running a Tru 4.65 in my car and going to be installing a US amps 4085 in the Nitro.

I've never really matched my whole system by name brand and I would recommend listening to as many speakers as you can before buying :)

well in actuality you dont need anything but a sub..the stock speakers are actualy good, i run a single 12inch dd. and my system hits harder and clear'er than people who completely replased there system. I recently placed 4th in a car show here, and they were amazed at trhe sound quiality and bass from my stock system(with sub).
so why spend all the extra money, im young and i like it loud but just the system it came with and (the sub) are more than plenty!

How to get my AMP and Subs installed

Hey guys,

I'm trying to add a Jensen 10" Sub Woofer to my Nitro SLT, but I have the touch Screen display, is that going to be a problem with my installation? I was hoping on doing most of the work myself in order to safe some cash...

I think you hit the nail on the head here..... I'm in the process of installing two 12in Fusions in my Nitro (got them at a ridiculous steal) and I have heard many systems simply add just a sub and amp and it sounds amazing, the speakers arn't that bad factory wise
