This is not a children's toy. When it comes to random airbag errors I'd be very concerned. Any airbag randomly deployed on HWY or not-deployed during accident is a problem.

You need to pull DTC. Regular ELM327 (Torque app, OBDLink app) can't read Airbag ECU. You should visit the dealer with StarScan or WiTech. I believe there will be error stored stating more details.

It might be wiring, connector, airbag issue.

Have a similar problem, but the warning light stays on all the time. I have a list of other things that need to be done, and this one gets added to the list.

Won't be taking my Nitro to the dealer I bought it from because the airbag light was on when I test drove the vehicle. Mentioned that to the sales rep and his reply was that "it's a common problem with Chrysler vehicles"o_O Being that I was 100mi from home, and they couldn't do a diagnostic that day, I said I'll have it checked out by a dealer closer to home.

Guess they weren't too concerned about my safety...

Is an airbag light, or the airbag off light for the passenger seat?

Thanks, good info to know. Some folks confuse the 2.
Rather then throwing parts at it, I'd suggest a Diag. The airbag light can mean an error/problem with any part of the SRS system. There are 16+ SRS and airbag sensors in the Nitro(a few less in the earlier years without the active headrests). Not counting the airbags themselves or the seat belt charges.
