You should be very happy with it now that you have the Flash done!Had the "Flash" done today. Dealer was decent enough to split the cost with me so it only came to 38.00(CAN). It seems a whole lot better in the city. No more growling and lack of power. I haven't had it on the highway yet but hopefully the milage gets better. I was little scared the last time I filled up--- 15MPG ---. Since then I have dropped in a K&N filter and changed to Synthetic oil. Still happy otherwise.
The 09 should already have the latest flash from the factory, but it wouldn't hurt to have your dealer look into it.Hey guys I have an 09 nitro, will this flash work for my year. I find I have a shutter about 80 Kmh. When I let off the pedal though it goes away. Is this same thing everyone else has been having? Any speed above 80 kmh there is no shutter. Thanks
What size is the engine? Is there any way to figure out if this flash was done on my Nitro? I bought it used in August of 09 and am just now reading up on this. Called my dealership and they are telling me it would $100+ regardless if I need the flash or not.

No worries, and welcome to the forum. :smileup:2008 3.7L
Sorry, new to this.
Welcome back to the forum! In order to get better gas mileage, manufacturers added a clutch to the torque converter on the automatic transmissions. This was to decrease slippage, and give the driver slightly better mileage. So, what this TSB addresses is when and how this clutch engages, and I am not sure that there would be a correlation to this issue and your rear end gears having to be rebuilt.Im just curious. Haven't visited this site in some time (feels ashamed) but I just took my Nitro in for a vibrating while driving specifically at 40Mph. In my case it would happen even if I dropped into neutral while driving 45 and let it coast down to 40. The dealership said that they would have to replace the spider gears and ring and pinion (covered under my warranty). However, I wonder if this might be the underlying problem. I am by no means a mechanic of any kind and do not claim to be so. Does anyone think it could cause undo wear on the parts they are replacing? Or could it really be the issue all on its own?
I should also note that I do not primarily drive this vehicle, its the wifes, and she is the one who mentioned the noise to me after a recent set of tires was installed.
I just got this flash done a few weeks ago. I was charged $100 by the dealer to check for/and update any flashes for my vehicle that were not previously done (there were 4 flashes for my Nitro, but I was told the $100 would be the charge even if there was only 1). I have heard anywhere from $50-$100 for this service (which only the dealer can perform). IMO it's worth it; Nitro shifts much better now, and no more lag or indecisiveness between 3rd and 4th gear with slight acceleration. I've heard from other members that they saw an increase in highway MPG but it's hard to tell with mine as I have been doing other things to it as well.I have been experiencing this issue as well. I don't have a warranty, and after a quick call to the dealership, they quoted me $50 for the flash, but said it could be up to $100 depending in how much they have todo... Does this sound okay? I have no idea how much the flash should be.
