When I took mine in they flashed 4 modules: TIPM, PCM, HVAC HEAD, & RADIO.

I am the third owner, and don't know much else about my Nitro's history before I bought it a little over a year ago (other than it had been running over gapped platinum plugs). So, I asked the dealer to check for any tsb's or flashes that had not been performed previously. They came up with the 4 listed above (I believe the PCM flash is the one that takes care of the transmission fix).

Thanks for the feed back. I'm calling tomorrow to have my Nitro flashed on Wed. I'll report back. It will also solve my Nitro oil level problem. After they check it, I'll check it with my Dodge dakota oil dipstick!!

As recommended by a few on here, printed out the details of the update and headed to my local dodge dealer. They charged me for a full hour to do this.... $129.99. Pretty pissed that we have to pay for this at all. They updated the software for a reason, why do we have to suffer :/. Took them 25 minutes to complete. Once I pulled out, the truck shifted really hard into second then hard into third. Was really worried I had made things worse. After varied driving for a few days things calmed down. I had thought that people on here were exaggerating the results. I have to say they were not wrong. Between 40-50 mph things are the way they should have always been. The truck feels so much smoother. No more drone from the rear, no more tugging, no more weird grabbing as it shifted from 2nd to 1st while coming to a quick stop. I'm going to contact Chrysler about the charge and see if I get anywhere.

I never followed up on this thread. I did have my Nitro flashed. The dealer flashed everything. As soon as I left the dealer, I felt and noticed the difference. Shifting is better. Full throttle accelleration is better. Still wish I could adjust the torque converter to lock above 45 MPH instead of 50+. Some shifts are harder with throttle input. I suppose line pressure was increased and shifts shortened. I'm glad I took it in.

where do you contact someone for that? mine does that and not real bad. just bought it yesterday.

QUOTE=NitroTech;144530]As of July, 31, 09 Chrysler released a new PCM Flash Update for the 42RLE transmission. Here is what the Flash does. I will be flashing my PCM this week with this update and will let everyone know how its works out. The TSB is 18-023-09. I should add this is basically what I had done by B&G Chrysler when I had my transmission shift schedule custom programmed.

I have a 2010 SE 3.7 auto. It seems to shift funny at times and even hard.
Should mine already have this update?
Welcome to the forum schwasskin.
When you have a chance, head over to the Newbie Section and say "Hi".
Tell us a little about yourself and your ride.
That way we can welcome you all proper like.

Your rig should have this already. This is for the 07-08 Nitro.
You may want to have your trany fluid checked. You can also disconnect the Neg (-) battery cable and wait 10 minutes, then reconnect it.
This will put the trany into "Learn" mode. Then drive it like you stole it.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread. But...
I was on an eleven hour trip yesterday, and I have the symptoms narrowed down.

When im cruising at highway speeds between 50-75 and i accelerate slightly, but not enough for the transmission to shift, it starts to shutter or slip.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Disconnect the Neg (-) battery cable and wait 10 minutes, then reconnect it.
This will put the trany into "Learn" mode. Then drive it like you stole it.
This will stiffen up the shift points.
If the above does not work, have your trany fluid level checked.

A dealer can run your VIN and see if it has been done.
Another thing to try; is a little time, and a 10 mm wrench. Disconnect the Neg(-) battery cable and isolate it for 10 minutes. This will put the trany in "Learn" mode.
After you reconnect it "drive it like you stole it" for a bit. The computers will learn the PTM (pedal to the metal) driving and the shifts will be a bit more firm.
Since your ride is "new to you", it probably still has the last owners driving habits set in the computers.

Does anyone know if this would be applicable to an 07 rt 4.0? My transmission acts exactly as described. I just got the car so I'm trying to get it all caught up on updates and stuff. Just did plugs and plenum gasket last night along with a pcv valve and replaced a few relays. Had the tank recall fixed and had the pump replaced while they had the tank down. So far it's made a night and day difference.

I did requested the flash update and it FIXED the problem! This cost me 85 bucks and a 3 day drama filled experience with a dealer whom also replaced my gas tank from another TSB from spill back. Freaking HATE dealerships!
