My problem: (very) loud static is heard when the radio is turned on after replacing antenna base mount and mast. I can't control the volume with volume knob either.
With the help of the detailed instructions in this thread
, I replaced my broken stock antenna (part number 05064164AB) with new part number 05064252AD. I have a stock single CD radio in my 2007 nitro SXT.
The original antenna came with three wire leads, white, black and mustard (see pic after I removed it). The replacement only had two, so I left the mustard colored one attached to the car as is - the other end is connected to radio. From what I understand, that is the satellite connection. I don't use satellite in the car, but not sure if leaving this unplugged could cause the static issue.
Negative battery was disconnected during install and I pulled fuse M10 after and that looks ok. I will visually recheck the connections from the base to the car in the rear, but does anyone have other suggestions to troubleshoot the static?
