I am no radio or electrical expert, but it clearly sounds like you went to the wrong place/person to get your new radio installed.:shakehead:

You should probably look for a more professional shop to take your Nitro to and have them fix your problem.

By the way, what radio did you buy to put in your SXT?

Hey PhillyNitro...

My radio is also hard-wired (no harness) and I am using a similar antenna adapter and I also get horrid radio reception. If I drive under a tree I lose reception, it's bad..

I thought I saw a post about something similar a while back and how they used an amplified adapter instead of the straight adapter and this helped, but I couldn't find the post.

But, what I also noticed just now that I somehow completely missed before is that there is an "Amplified Antenna Feed" wire that is part of the Nitro's radio harness.. I couldn't find any other info on this, but I'm starting to wonder if the built in antenna is an amplified antenna, but because I don't have the proper wiring harness, maybe I'm not providing power to the 'amplifier'?? Can anyone confirm/deny this theory? And anyone know if it's just a simple: apply a positive 12v current to it to turn it on?

Here's the radio connector pinout post with the mentioned Amplified Antenna Feed.
