Last night the Mrs and I were driving and noticed that water was coming in around where the rear view mirror is. There is the plastic section up there where the lights are and the paper holder. Dripping water from that area. This was the first time pretty much driving in a pretty heavy rain. We do have a sunroof but to me it seams to be coming from where the windshield meet the frame.
Anyone else with this. I am taking it in on Tuesday but am worried that this is one of those times when the problem will never happen when the dealer sees it. Hoping it just needs some more sealant or something where the window comes into the frame.

Mine was leaking through the sunroof opening, but the water ran down the frame to the rear cargo area and was dripping from that area, however like I said the water originated from the sun roof. Oh and guess what..... yup.........some of you probably already guessed it the dealership couldnt duplicate it. so I had to fix it myself with some adhereing silicone gel. -Buenos Suertos

I've never seen a windshield leak, but I have seen some dripping from the sunroof if I go through a car wash. It will drip from the front into the tray and run down the sides into what I assumed was a drain going somewhere. It's never dripped inside. I always assumed this was normal, is it, or should I seal the sunroof?

I have the same problem; water coming in, as you are looking at the front of the vehicle, the far left corner. I wondering if there is an adjustment to increase the force of the opening/closing mechanism to pull down on it a bit more. I don't care if they can duplicate this particular problem, just fix it...I already know it leaks. :)

Water leak 2008 SLT Nitro

I also have this problem. First time driving in rain with my Nitro and water was coming in from around the lights above the rear-view mirror. I was travelling at 100km/hr when this happened. When I made turns it seemed to pour out from somewhere. I will be taking it to the dealership tomorrow hoping they can do something. I will also have them look at the deep seatbelt indentations in the back leather seats. They told me they would go away after the sun heats the car up....but they never did. Anybody else get the leak?

One comes off the front, down the "A" pillar to the cowl side panel.

The other comes off the rear, down the "C" pillar to the rear floor pan.

Hope this helps.

same problem, does anyone have any advice on how to fix this (aside from going to the dealer)?
Do you have a sun roof?
If so, you can pull off the "A" pillar trim and check the drain line.
Also, try to open the sunroof, stick your head up, and look down the side of it for a blockage. The back is much more complicated to get to, as you can see by the Pics.

Mine has a sunroof and the passenger side front seems to be blocked. I tried snaking it but that did not work completely. How do you take the A pillar trim off? Does it just clip on and needs to be pryed off?

First, Disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes. This will disable the Air-Bag in the pillar. You don't want that going off!
From another thread. Talks about the A,and B-pillar removal. Thanks NitroTech!
You may also have to remove the glove box and lower fascia on the side to get to the end of it.
The A-pillar trim is just snapped into place and requires only a good tug inward to release it. The B-pillar trim will required unbolting the top securing point of the seatbelt. After that it is secured with clips and a good tug will release it. The B-pillar trim is in 2 sections and you might have to remove the bottom section first. If you really need to remove the rear quarter trim panel that requires a little more work. I suggest trying to drop the headliner first without removing the quarter trim.

Hope this helps.
so, the sunroof is expected to leak through the weather striping around it?
Kinda. Whenever you have a flat/semi-flat surface, with a piece of trimmed glass that opens both upward and downward, there is no way to get a 100% watter proof seal. You can only apply so much pressure to the sealing area around that opening, before it is rendered inoperable. As time and use wears on the seal, you are bound to have leaks. Also when there is high pressure watter, such as a car wash would apply, it can penetrate the seal. They put the drain lines in to allow small amounts of watter that penetrate the seal to be removed. Thus, preventing watter damage to the inside of the car.

The most common cause of a drain line getting clogged is pine needles. Then dirt and moss. I never park my ride with the sunroof open if there is even the slightest possibility of getting pine needles in it.
I also, always close it when going off road.

When it rains it's like I have an inverted water fountain in my car!

Has only poured out the overhead map console once - but I am able to see the rain constantly dripping through the rear passenger side of the sunroof while driving. It doesn't seem to take much rain so the pressure is minimal, also the truck only has 4K miles on it and the seal looks to be in good condition. Kinda distracting/disturbing, I would not think it was designed allow water in that easily.

Does anyone know if there are some adjustments that can be made to how it fits while shut - or - has anyone used some aftermarket weather stripping etc to help?
