I'm looking into buying leather covers for my seats, and it occurred to me that I need to know the answer to that. I know at least part of the side airbag is in the headliner, because I saw it when I ran the wire for my radar detector. Does anyone know if any part of the side airbag is in the seat?

hi Dave! I do not think any part of the airbag is in the seat, or at least I have not heard that. some members have added seat covers so I think you will be okay. I am sure someone that knows for sure would be nitrotech, if you don't get the answer you are looking for I would send him a pm.

Yes,you can see a air bag emblem on the pillars front and rear, none on the seats

I only have the emblem on the B-pillar (nothing near the rear seats)... That's why I asked. I have a spot for the emblem in the back, but it's blank. I do not see an emblem on the seat, and due to the close quarters when reclined, I doubted it was actually in the seat.

There's an airbag in the A pillar too, I had it apart to get my tweeter out.

The side airbag curtains are in the headliner. There are no airbag's in the A or B-pillar's. There is however, an anchor for the side airbags in the A-pillar.:smileup:

Good deal. You wouldn't happen to know if there is a difference in the padding (shape/size) between the SXT and the RT, would you? I've never seen RT seats up close to compare, but the pictures I've seen don't suggest a major difference in bolstering, etc.
