Ok so those of us sxt owners who dont have the rearview auto dimming mirror I have found the company that makes this and from what they say they dont sell to te public but they did give permission for another companyto sell there products and that website is called mitocorp.com and from what IM seeing you can get this mirror for $100.00 USD and then theres other models with compass, map light and outside temp and compass for $300.00 USD. Im ordering the one that is supposed to come with the SLT Nitro.. This company looks legit and solid but first orders will tell. Just thought to pass the info.:Banana01:

Yes, mitocorp (www.mitocorp.com) is the licensed retailer for the people who make the mirrors for the Nitros - Gentex Corp: http://www.gentex.com/
Id email Mitro Corp though to esnure complete compatibility before ordering though :)
Now if they'd only sell the auto-dimming mirror w/ the mic in it that's used on the Nitro's U-connect...the more parts I can get without the Mopar markup the better!
Even after purchasing a compatible auto dimming mirror unit, you still would have to make a trip to the dealer to have the computer on your Nitro flashed.
I have read that a factory UConnect can be installed using the following items..Any techs that can confirm this?

5064013AH $282.00 $0.00 $219.70
Electrical - Electrical components - Module - Telematics
Telematics 2005 - 2006

4806228AB $195.00 $0.00 $152.10
Windshield - Glass - Mirror inside - W/auto dim
W/u connect comm. 2006

5089051AB $38.10 $0.00 $29.71

WIRING MIRROR JUMPER

bringing the install price to just over $400..

From what I've read, all of the above will work with most DCX/Chrysler vehicles (after a certain year of course, I think after 2002, not sure). The link I tried to post, had a tech describing everything from cost, parts to self install.
This is new to me but anything is possible. The Telematics module on a Nitro is factory located in the right rear quarter P/N 5064469AA. The rear view mirror with Telematics P/N 55157457. I'm not aware if the wiring exists for Nitro's not equipped with Uconnect. I couldn't find a wiring harness but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Obiviously the Telematics module is on the communictation BUS and all that would have to happen is have it enabled in the build configuration using the Starscan. Like I said this is new to me but for those who want a factory system you have the part numbers.

I'll have to check to see if I have any of the wiring harness bits in mine, but somehow I doubt it. Especially for the mirror. I also wouldn't doubt if the hardest part about this project becomes finding the vehicle-side connectors that come with the factory wiring harnesses. I'm not afraid of running new wires and splicing into existing wiring, but it's difficult to guarantee a solid connection to the radio/mirror/telematics module without those connectors.

..and I don't even want to know the price for some of those harnesses with 10s of connectors on them that you would have to purchase just to get the one or two needed, as the connectors themselves cannot usually be ordered separately..
BCH look up two posts it shows the prices for the parts that SHOULD work..the nitro might use a little different part but it will be about the same price if not the same
and here I thought this would be a 123 install mount run a couple of wires and bam your done. I was wrong. so mutch for simplicity.

On my Caliber, I wanted UConnect. The dealer gave me the Mopar UConnect, which despite what differences I'd read between factory and Mopars' unit, the Mopar performed quite well IMO. The dealer sent me to a shop that installs all aftermarket stuff for them. The tech that did my install even had the system working with the Calibers speaker system! It was very clear and loud as well. I can tell you though nitroman577, it's totally not simple to do.

It might not be so bad for just the auto-dimming mirror (where this thread started...sorry!) if you've got the overhead console. In that case, you *might* be able to tap into the console for power for the mirror and not have to run wires all over the place. I believe the mirror also wants to know if you're in reverse, presumably so it can turn off the dimming for you. Maybe everything else will work correctly without that input hooked up?
well I was reading the website and they said if you can hook up a radio in your car then you can hook up this. I dont really need the u connect. Oh well Ill call and talk to then to find out the lowdown to see if its really that simple.
It would only be the wiring for the mirror in the headliner as the console stuff is now in the gage pod on the dash. Just wonder if that bundle is there as part of the build weather you get the autodim mirror or not.

I was thinking more about using the power for the lights in the overhead console to give power to the added-on mirror, assuming at least the SXT C package. Who knows, maybe the pigtail for the mirror is tucked up under the headliner too. I wouldn't bet on it though.
Thats what I mean would be nice if all you had to do was mount the mirror & plug it in for a go. Might have to get it activated at the dealers though.

Well, I am in the UConnect doldrums with my Nitro R/T. I am so confused, I have a mirror that has a button on it for something... I guess "dimming"... does anyone know if I need a different mirror?

Also, just left the dealership and they told me (without looking at it) a UConnect mirror is $400 bucks!!! I may have said some random swear words because he said, "Oh and the module was extra $250, ...not including install."

I think I passed out, because I woke up in my Nitro and the UConnect still didn't work. However, I did have a general feeling of happiness, so I left.

Very strange.
Yep that button shuts off mirror from auto dim mode! U connect has female pin jack on top and has mic in it, I believe!
Ahh, so is there a solution for getting around all this dealer installed BS?
:bump:

anyone any ideas? I really don't want to spend that kind of $$ for a rear view mirror.
