:Racing: Alright. I've been itching to get an RT but haven't seen the one that "hits" me up until recently. It's a silver RT (msrp of $29753) with 4 miles, well now 6 miles on the clock. I had to bribe my wife to go along by taking her out for dinner with out the kids in order to get to the dealer. We got there and there and the salesman poked around so much it was horrid. Finally we get in the car (including this 400lb salesman:SHOCKED: ) and get going down the road. About 500' later my wife says that she hears something and I thought it'd be just rusty brakes or something. Then the truck starts beeping and **** going on here the dash says the right front tire is going flat. So, we get pulled into a gas station and by that time we've got 5psi. then 0. The salesman calls back to the shop and they send some guy with one of those cheap plug in your lighter pumps. I laugh and tell him that he's gotta change the tire because something big happened. He takes off the tire and looks all around it saying it looks fine. I'm like there's no way so I take a peek at it. Here the nut that holds the valve stem is missing and the air valve is just hanging there. Not sure if it came from the factory like that or what???

By this time my wife is really pissed and ready to go home. He throws the spare on there and we take off back to the dealer (of which the truck about died taking off). We go inside and I'm thinking they'll work on the price for the troubles and the crap I've been through. Well, I guess not. They want $540 a month for 72 months or $509 for 84 months. By now my wife is really giving me a hard time because this salesman is jerking us around. I couldn't take it any longer so I left. Oh, BTW I'm trading in my car of which I told them just pay it off. I also found out they've already got 2 people lined up to possibly buy my car too.

There's no way I'm gonna commit to paying $38k to $42k on a car that stickers for $30k. Has any of you bought your ride at invoice???? I've always bought at invoice for everything I've gotten before. This Nitro has been on the lot for about 6months so I know they're not all that hot at least around my area.

Besides the glitch in what happened I think the RT is OK but not great. Not sure if I'm sold on chrome covered hubcap style rims on a "top level" trimmed vehicle. Not sure on the driving since I only had about a 1/4 mile worth of real drivetime. I'll tell yeah it pulls real hard with the spare on

Thats a good one gees

I would advise staying away from anything thats been on a lot that long, I made that mistake once on a caravan that had been on a lot about that time and it was the van from hell nothing but problems , only a few times I was able to get invoice on a car, Keep looking and best of luck! ;)

Wow

Now you know why that one has been there for 6 months! It has some bugs. Walk away, er, no run!

The R/Ts are wonderful vehicles. That one sounds like it was one of the very first if it has been there for 6 months. Don't get caught up craving one specific vehicle at a dealership. Go to a different one in another town and test drive one there. You should be able to find one for $700 - $800 over invoice.

Well, having one sit around doesn't bother me. I live in an area that's very depressed and cars tend to sit on the lot. My car I bought new with about 100 miles on it in 2005 but it was a 2004.

I highly doubt it that they knew of any problems prior since it only had 4 miles on the clock when I sat in it.

This is specifically the reason why I now order what I want on a vehicle. OK it may take me a few more weeks to get it but I don't like to settle for whatever they have sitting around on the car lot.

On another subject, if you were dissappointed with the salesperson and they are a 5 star dealer you should call Chrysler dealer services and report the incident. The Dealer services folks take a very hard stance on dealers that are not servicing the customer.

The best part is when you write a letter to the guy & his manager & don't hold any punches. Tell them about your bang up experience & how happy your wife is. If their smart, they will make a point to not have this happen again, or even compensate you somehow for this one.

Well the thing is that I hate shopping for cars. Also, I don't want to go to a bunch of other dealerships and starting from scratch. Besides, my credit will get ding each time someone does a credit check.

I'm trying to get these guys on my account for the aftermarket stuff I do too. I enticed them on 10" dvd systems installed for $650. So hopefully they'll make it right and give me the deal I need and at the same time, order stuff from my bizz:shy:

:thk: Are you using Chrysler Financial for the credit? I doubt that anyone else will beat that deal. you can call Chrysler Financial and get prequalified then you can go to any dealership and they won't have to get credit approval. That way you only have one hit against your credit report.

Go to a different dealer. When I bought my Nitro, they worked hard for me, we spent 3 hours in negotiation, but I got the Nitro for $1500 OFF MSRP, with nothing to trade. The deals are out there and the dealers will work with you.

Well, I told them before I left that I'd take the car at invoice with them paying off my ride in trade (which they already said they do). The big cheeze was working iwth other people when I stated that and it was close to closing time when we left. My sales guy was off today too so I haven't heard what their reply was.

I'd rather buy a used one but rarely are there any silver ones used and never are there any RT trimmed ones either. I should just get a SLT and slap some nice rims on it to same money.

When I test drove back in Novemeber it was Az... I bought from here in Cali. But before I even thought about going to the dealership here in town I called them, got a salesperson. I told him what I wanted, what I can live with out and what was a MUST (like cloth seats I'm in the desert). I told him about the time frame on when I was going to be buying and told him to get busy finding my Nitro. There wasnt any credit check, there was just him being busy hunting down my truck. I didnt have to do anything except email him my specs.

We got it about 4 months earlier then planned so while I was there talking to him in person, he had another guy hunting it down. We did all the financing after I chose one of the 3 he found (had to get the price) and 2 1/2 days later it was dropped off in my driveway. One of the requirements of us buying from them was that it was to be TRAILERED in, not driven.

I could have found the Nitro off the net myself and just went to them. Either way if you do your own digging on the net from the dodge forum and your zip code, you can find exactly what you want and no dings on your credit, you dont have to talk to any new sales rep until the time you are ready. can figure in your trade in value of your car and do your own payment config... just start off the intrest rate about 6.9 to 8.9 with good credit. It is just finding the time to do it. :)

Your last line is the biggest problem I have, time. Like I've stated before the last few buys I've done was purely off of the net and phone simular to what you've done. I'm just taking my time. I think I'll be much better off trying to sell my ride locally instead of trading it in.

dealers arent supposed to run credit checks until you sign the paperwork allowing them to. i only sign when myself and the dealer come to an agreement on price. then and only then is my credit ever checked. so as long as you arent signing that paperwork you can shop around to your hearts content for the best deal with no worries of your credit score getting screwed.

yep, on the r/t you get aluminum rims with plastic covers on them.

HUH??? So you are saying the R/T 20" rims have hub caps?? Chrome Clad does not mean "covers" It means chrome laid over aluminum or some other material.

I have not seen an R/T in person yet since I am getting one of the first in Europe but if this is true that the 20" rims with chrome hub caps that I am thinking of changing my order to an SLT with 17" rims.

Can someone clarify this?
