So i wanted to black out my Nitro but I'm hesitating because i have so much chrome accents from the R/T design that they go together pretty good. Now what i really want to do it a black chrome finish on all parts including rims, grill, side vents and back facade... to keep the chrome flashy look but more low key and unique.

Something like this...

Does anyone know how to do this? Can it be a quick process like a spray paint or is it something i need to take in to a custom shop? Any info would be great.

From what I know of chroming, it is by no means a "spray-on" application...you're gonna have to find somebody to do it that know what they are doing. If I recall correctly, to get black chrome, you paint over something that has already been chromed. Again, I'm not the expert, but....

I am all for the blackout/stealth mode, but we saw a black something this weekend w/ black rims and it looked horrible, it was not classie enough....maybe do what you were saying but go w/ chrome for the rims, maybe some sort of brushed look, that way it is not so bling blingie

This "black chrome" is a sort of smoked chrome.

This process seems to be an OEM only process applied to plastic. I don't think you can duplicate this on your own. Perhaps if you contact the company they can direct you to an aftermarket supplier that uses their "spinelle" process.

Here is the link to the company who owns the process.

What if... you tried the black tint spray for taillights on a chrome piece and see what you come up with.
I got a promotional piece from these people. Some interesting stuff.

I am very experienced with Black Chrome. this was an option I used to offer at my old shop for the inside of headlight housings. If the intrest is good I can offer a black chrome package for any item on your nitro. This would be as dark or light as you want with two layers of clear on top to protect everything.

PM me with what you would want to have black chromed and I will give you a quote ASAP!

So that includes headlamps housing? Will it decrease lighting?
