So, the GF and I are signing papers on the Nitro tomorrow. We've got it for the night.

Brief introduction on myself:
I'm 27, my name is Victor. We own a 2006 Mustang GT that we've loved the past 2 years and sadly, it's time to get something practical we can have fun in, AND fit people in. I own a couple other cars that I use, and we're trying to maintain just 1 car note while we possibly plan the future.

I work for Maxwell Dodge in Austin, TX and after looking at a few 07's being cleared out and some 08's on the lot, we weren't ready for paying what we would have with my discounts. Our goal was to find a White R/T 2wd with leather. Nothing....

As a technician working for the Used Car portion of the dealership, my main workload comes in from trade-in's being retailed and purchased cars from nationwide auctions. I recondition the cars, make all the necessary repairs to be certified by Chrysler as a Pre-Owned vehicle. With that, my connection to the Pre-Owned Sales Manager enabled me to scout pre-owned Nitros. He said he'd keep an eye out on some of the auctions.

Last week, a Detroit Auto Auction was taking place and he found us a Black 07 model, high 20's in the mileage. Today it arrived. We didn't know the options until the trailer came.
  • Black
  • R/T Model
  • 4wd
  • Navigation/MyGig
  • Sunroof
  • Cloth Black/Silver Inserts interior
The big negative was the cloth interior. After looking at a Black 08 on the lot with leather, we figured we'd get lucky. Now, I don't know much about the Nitro's yet, so I figured it was an 08+ model option.

Into the good stuff. After pricing some of the Nitro's into the mid-20s with options we wanted, I believe we got a hell of a deal. No Markup, No excess Pre-Owned fee's like repair costs being added, we are taking home our R/T for 20,100. After TTL. We are basically buying it exactly at what they own it for.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Photography is a hobby of mine and considering my long hours at work, I haven't been able to find the right spot and daylight time to snap some good pictures.

As fas as mods planned, I will be doing some research on lowering springs. The suspension does have a need for being a little tighter. Performance/power mods may call for a CAI and some sort of tuning software. With the 06 Mustang GT, I've taken advantage of some good power gains with SCT's XCalibratorII. I'll do some research to find out what's offered in that direction.

Even better is the trade in value for my GT. I'd seen sales prices slump recently, but still got a good deal.

So far I like it. With the remote start option on the vehicle, and the temps getting into the low 30's the next few days, it helps.

Can't say I won't miss the Mustang, it's been a great car (I'm naturally a Ford guy). I just go through periods where I am Stangless. Now is one of em. This next go-round, will be a classic one though.

As for the Nitro, I definitely have a knack for personalizing my vehicles. My first task, will be 'blacking out' the chrome headlight housings. Similar to the Grand Cherokee Laredo's vs. Grand Cherokee Limiteds.

Welcome to the Nitro forum. Send us a picture of your Nitro on 6th street.

Don't sweat the seats. When you have the cash go pick out a nice set of Katzkin seats. They fit like a glove and are actually better leather than the OEM ones.

Link to the Katzkin? My parts department offers that brand as well. Of course, at cost. I typically hang out with the guys from the parts dept., so they have no issues in selling at cost and shipping for free.

I'll see if I can snap one down on 6th tomorrow. Shouldn't be terribly busy during the day, but it being a 3 lane 1 way, is hard to snap a shot at a good angle.

You will not be dissapointed in the Katzkin. I would suggest that you spring for installation as it is possible to damage the leather if you do it wrong and it takes experience to stretch these to where they fit like the factory. Other good thing is that they will warrany the seats and the work this way.
