Blower Motor Has Water In It

2328 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  jessicamartinez618
I just bought a 2007 Nitro sxt a few months ago and the blower motor wouldn’t come on so we changed the blower motor reisistor and that didn’t help then my boyfriend is now to busy to get deeper into it so he dropped it off for a diagnosis at the dealership and they said the blower motor has water in it and it shorten the resistor out, my question is where did the water come from and how did stop it from happening to the new one when it’s installed?

Does your Nitro have a sunroof? There are drain holes at the front of the sunroof on both corners that can get clogged with debris. A rubber hose is connected to each drain hole and runs down the a-pillar, and out on the underside of the vehicle. It is possible that one of the rubber hoses is leaking and has allowed water to get in behind the dash. Just a shot in the dark, and mainly guessing, but that could be a possibility.

Thank you for the reply but no it does not have a sunroof, I have not seen any evidence of water getting into any part of the passenger compartment.
Well, I'm sorry then. I'm stumped. Possible condensation from the A/C... Maybe?

Pull the cowl below the windshield on the RF.

In there is the a screen(air intake for heater)

If the side drain areas by the fender are full of crud the water will back up into the air intake and drip into the motor.

Your welcome. To completely remove the cowl you will have to remove the wiper arms, and may have to take off the hood.
I had a similar problem with my daughters Cherokee. There were tons of pine needles and other crud in the side by the fender.
After a good storm she would have 1/2" of water on the front floors.

Hi, I know this is an old discussion but I’m struggling to find the drain holes to check for blockages.. can’t seem to find any pics online. Any photos of drain hole location would really be appreciated. Thanks
pretty sure they are under that plastic cover at the bulkhead far right and left in the corners near the wings, the water drains out at sill level at the bottom of the wings,

It should be under the carpet either on passenger side by the fire wall or driver under the pedal
It should be under the carpet either on passenger side by the fire wall or driver under the pedal I clean mines 3 times a week. If you take your car to a car wash that has a monthly subscription plan normally they have a thing that looks like a glue gun but it's a airgun for cleaning vents and what ever else but its wonders plus car wash clubs are so much cheaper
