I installed new rims and tires (20") on my Nitro a month ago. Now I get this squeaking sound on the right side with light through minimum foot pressure on the pedal. I went to the dealer to have it checked and was told that this was one of their biggest complaints, and that the can't anything about it. Has anone else experienced this noise (brakes hot or cold it still happens)?

Had the same thing happen with the thire on my SXT took it to the dealer and they cleaned the brake pads. Gave me some story about lots of metal in the brake pad compounds. Hasent been bad so far. There are three grades of brake pads. Is it still under warrenty? have then clean them and go from there

does it happen when it's been dry overnight or only when it has been moist or rainy overnight? does it happen only first thing in the morning, then stops later? My wife has this issue with her SX 2.0 (Neon), and they can't do anything about it, so they say! I think we need to rip out the whole drum and pads and everything and replace the whole lot!

They told us the same thing (too much metal in the pads) about our police fleet (Chargers and Intrepids)

My answer to that is, give me new pads WITHOUT too much metal in them. Luckily my Nitro hasn't gone there yet.

My question is - Why is this happening only now that you changed wheels? That seems like it's pointing to another issue, if it didn't do it until you changed the wheels...

Sorry for the slow reply. The brakes are squeaking while driving along (there a wall around alot of housing developments which reflect sounds), and squeal from light to medium pressure. At full pressure no sound are heard.

I thought the same thing. But it ocurred to me that you can purchase Nitros with a 20" rim and I haven't heard a complaint from those buyers. I'll take a day off and have the pads replace if possible with ones that have lower metal content.

I don't think that its a moisture problem. There's low humidity here in the desert. I think that the pads and rotor materials are incompatible.

It was just a thought, then after I posted it, I realized you were out in the desert! DOH! My wifey's issue was due to moisture, but the mechanic trimmed a bevel on the ends of the (rear) brake shoes or pads or something and blew the brake dust outta there and it hasn't done it since!
