I rented the Jeep Liberty last summer and hated it. The ride was so rough, and very bummpy. So bad it made me sick.
I love the look of the Dodge Nitro, but I'm worried about the ride.
Please tell me why you like your Nitro. Good, bad and the ugly.....

Dodge Nitro

I personally love the Dodge Nitro, have no issues.

My suggestion to you would be to take it for a test drive, or if you can, rent it for a day to see if you like it. That is the only way you will come up with your decision.

I can't say the ride is bumpy, it's even a bit too soft for me. I'll probably upgrade to some gas shocks & AT tires before too long.

Good suggestion above..... rent one for a day or a weekend. We did this a few years ago on a family vacation. Rented a Magnum & a Pacifica & drove them both for a week. The Magnum looked bad. But the Pacifica had more room in the back seat, AWD, and a higher tow rating.

If you rented a Liberty Sport (the ones with the black fenders/bumpers), from experience, I can tell you they are bumpy I guess you could call it, but I would rather call it pitchy, as in back and forth, due to the wheelbase and bottom of the basement (price/value) suspension. The other models of Liberty's are better. But that hardly matters now since all the new ones will be on the new Nitro platform. It is better (longer wheelbase) and rides smoother. Still, renting one is an excellent idea!

I moved to the Nitro from a 2007 4 dr Wrangler. It was a noticable difference from the Wrangler to the Nitro. Yes, there is a difference in suspension. There were a few times when my Wrangler was in the shop and my loaner car was the Liberty it rode like a wagon compared the the Nitro.

I love the ride and drive of the Nitro. Might I also suggest the UConnect feature if you go with the Nitro.

Take one for a long test drive, over familiar territory. I found that it handles like a truck, a little bouncy but it's a blast to drive. If you want smooth, don't go with this one, it's all about fun in this rig! :woohoo:

The only way to know if you like it is to Drive it.

The Nitro does however have a more street friendly suspension and slightly longer wheelbase than the Liberty. More likely that you'll like it better.

I just ordered mine after pricing and driving tons of midsize SUV's.
