Hey all of you Hot Rod guys.

Please reply to this post with more pictures of cars that inspired the Nitro styling.

Clearly a few grey-haired guys like me were on the design team.

I challenge someone in the aftermarket to make a set of hood and fenders to bolt on to the Nitro to get the real late 30's-early 40's rod look.

Here are 2 great examples of cars that inspired our Nitro one is a '39 Ford the other is a late 30's Plymouth. Look at the hood vents---- look familiar?

How about a 41 Dodge?

Pretty sweet looking, in my opinion. Sorry the picture isn't higher resolution.

Awsome pics guys. I've never seen these vehicles before.
It's amazing the vast difference between European and NA cars and trucks. I really like the older NA styling but my fave of all time still has to be the E type Jaguar though.
Request to Forum Admin: Please fix typo in this thread-- I don't seem to have edit capabilities--- Should read "Cars that Inspired Nitro Styling --- I missed the "N".

Fix Typo in Thread

Aww Ken, I knew what ya meant when you said Ispired! ;)
Still I think this tread will be active for a while, and better to fix it for the archives.

I love all the pictures. I see a bit of the Nitro in each one. That's what's cool about this is that it is not a copy, rather a tribute to these great old Vehicles.

i can kinda see how the h3 and the liberty look the same...but the h3 is a garage queen where as the liberty is an off roader

There clearly is an Hummer influence on the Nitro.

You can debate the merits of H3 vs the Liberty, but I would not go so far as to call it a garage queen. By most reviews and tests the H3 is a very capable off-road vehicle. They have a test track here at the local Hummer dealer and they will take you for a pretty hairy off-road drive to prove it.

The biggest drawback to the H3 is it's on-road manners, particularly the fact that it is underpowered. The inline 5 cyl just just not have the oomph for a vehicle of this weight.

Wow 5cyl? That would be a little disappointing. It's not that I don't think the H3 is a capable off-roader, it's just that it's a luxury SUV priced at about $45k. People don't generally spend that much money on a luxury SUV and take it off the road. I guess those with the money can do anything they want, though.

I feel the same way about my Nitro even though it is modestly priced.

That is exactly why I am not that concerned about lack of a 2 speed trfr case. I like the way my Nitro looks and if I want to slog something through the Mud and brush, I'll go out an buy a 10-year-old Wrangler or a short-bed 4X4 pickup.

The Nitro 4X4 is just fine to get you to a good hunting or fishing spot or deliver you to your favorite ski slope without stopping to put on chains.
