For the second time I awoke to find cat prints on the hood and roof of my Nitro.

I looked carefully yet I could not detect a single scratch. Am I just lucky or do cats keep their claws so far in that they do not scratch when they walk?

Does anybody have a way to keep cats away? Some sort of spray smell for my driveway that turns cats off or something like that. Bright lights? Perhaps a rubber bird of prey on the hood?

I have 3 dogs but they stay in the house so they are not there to guard the Nitro from these feline attacks.

If anybody else has this problem, let me know if you ever ended up with damage from the invading cat.

sadly, nothing works, I love my cats, but they are in at night so they do not prowl on mine, but the neighbor's cat does, I caught him once and threw an m 5000 firework at him(sounds like a gunshot)....have not seen paw-prints since. lucky for me when I scared the crap out of him he did not leave a scratch, but I would have gladly rubbed it out just to ensure his absence.

If left to their own choosing, do cats keep their claws in? Have you ever had scratches?

I'll have to camp out and try the firecracker thing or maybe hit my panic button.

I do think for the most part the claws are in, there is nothing for them to latch on to so no need for the claws, but when you scare the crap out of them I would think the claws would come out for traction and a fast escape. no scratches for me yet, when I caught him he was laying at the bottom of the windshield where it meets the hood.

the panic button is a GREAT idea, that way if you are inside you will not scare him away opening the door you can just look out the window and he will never be the wiser. I love cats, but hate them on my car!! good luck!

well KC, it is getting to the end of my work day and I could use the fireworks show....lol, too bad you live far from me, we could have a couple of drinks and make some firecracker bombs....then nothing would come in your yard, much less near the nitro....good luck tonight and wear bug spray, we can't have you spreading west nile....lol

How about a nice big Pit Bull chained next to it? I had that happen many years ago and ended up with a car cover
Looks like the Nitro is starting to live in the garage and the Suburban out.

That may take care of this. It is amazing how big my gargare is with this tiny Nitro compared to the burban.

I have our old stove in front of the Nitro and I still have another 2 feet more behind it! It's like putting an addition on my garage.

That's how you had it configured when I was there....plenty of room now to do engine mods for other forum members! :Racing:

I had the same problem for a couple of years. Then I just bought a car cover. I keep my Nitro in the garage, but the cats are there too to stay warm. If the weather is nice and I've just washed it, car cover. Takes like 2 minutes to put on and like 3 to take off. WELL worth the time and NO CAT PRINTS!
