David,

I took the plunge and ordered these vent covers. They are definitely a nice dress up but the materials aren't exactly what you would expect. I'm not sure what I expected and the item is exactly as shown but the reality is that these inserts appear to be made from the same material that is sold in auto parts stores as door molding. It's just cut to fit the vents. After ordering them I'd recomment trying it out yourself since the pieces sell for about $3-$5 for two doors, which I'm sure is more than enough for all vents. I'll post photos in a couple of days. Hope this helps.

Phoenix,

Thank you. A close friend and business neighbor has an auto parts store, so I shall pick up some chrome door edge molding and make my own dress-up kit. I assumed this kit was stainless steel, I suppose. I never considered making my own dress-up kit from door molding, so I really appreciate the information!
