Concept - tail stripe for R/T

5264 Views 44 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  NITROVER
In keeping with traditional DODGE elements, I was thinking of doing a modern take on the “Rumble Bee” tail stripe for the NITRO. Of course, since I just ordered my R/T in Electric Blue, I made a conceptual drawing on a blue background with silver stripes. You will have to use your imagination on this, as I am not a graphic artist. Lighter colors like silver and white would require a black stripe.

My idea is to place this just in front of the rear tail light assembly on the rear quarter panel. Wrap the stripes up over the rear windows and terminate at top on the roof bar line. The rear windows would then be cut out of the stripe area during application.

I by no means have invested anything in this idea other that thought. I bring it to the forum for fun and comment.

Yes I too would like to see something on the R/T for the rear, too. Just doesn't match the massive front. Even a vertical racing strip on the tail gate would be better than just it's plain rear end! Let us know what you end up with. Maybe you could sell the "Kit" yourself, here?
How about a rams head where that devils head is now, if we are throwing things around for thought. That would be

That wasn't, ha ha ha, supposed to be a devil. Although looking at it again today I could see how you could think that. It was supposed to represent the personification of released energy. But I will definitely keep your idea of exploding rams in mind. This why I am asking opinions and not just going out on my own and getting something airbrushed on my R/T when it arrives. More comments, PLEASE!
Perhaps a more close up of the center section will show all I did was use AutoCAD to make offset lines from the outside into the center section. The thing at the center was just what was created by the lines as they were offset. Funny, perhaps deep down that is my inner demon trying to get out.

Is this better?? Still needs a lot of work. You can't really see it, but the stick of dynamite has 'DYNAMITE' on one end and 'MADE IN USA' on the other.
I like now.

Perhaps you will like it even more now. The black background shows off the colors more. Almost makes me wish I had ordered a black R/T. I would like to see the main stripe in metallic silver.

The only Nitros on local lots are SXTs. The second picture below would give you some kind of idea of what the decal would look like on the vehicle. The decal would be 7 1/2" wide. The passenger side would need to be a mirror image of this one. If this were an SLT, I would like to see what this looks like wrapped under the rear fender. Only problem with that is the decal would have to be cut off around the wheel bulge. Not sure how good that would look. I couldn't quite match NitroWill's stencil font, but it is close.

I think that kicks major ass bro!

Thanks! Now I just need to find a company to produce them. I would be willing to give a company the CAD file if I could get a set of decals in exchange for my time invested. There is quite a bit of vinyl in these, and several colors. They would probably have to sell for $150.00 per set.
Way cool,Don't know enough big words to say how good that looks.:pepper:

Some of you go check out this site and tell me what you think. www.iHotRod.com It looks as if these guys could design and complete anything. Probably going to cost in the $300.00 range for these decals, but it is probably one of the few mods I will do to the exterior of my Nitro. Final product would look 10 times better than what I have done.
They got some hot looking stickons. You sometimes wonder if you are going overboard while doing something like this and then after you do it you think WoW This looks great OR Why did I think of doing this to my ride???
There back!

I got my precision cut decals in yesterday. I will be getting the metallic silver stripes painted on, add these decals on top, then clear coat the whole thing. I have to schedule the work at a paint shop, so it could be weeks before everything is done.

$150???

Do decals really cost that kind of money? I guess I am out of touch with that kind of thing.

I don't think I would want to mess with my Sunburst Orange R/T's looks in that way, but for others, that may be just the ticket for their taste.

No, these ended up costing $118.00 for five decals. If the paint shop destroys one I'll have a back up. I originally had intended to get the full stripe printed, but I couldn't get silver.

I have a pretty good moral compass in my wife. If she doesn't like something, I probably wouldn't do it, and believe me, she doesn't hold anything back. However, she really likes the decals. I was designing them even before I could order my R/T, so I did them with my Electric Blue in mind. With the reds and oranges in the decals, I don't think they would look good on an orange Nitro.

I want my Nitro to be different than any other one you are likely to see. Along with the stripes, I am also getting color matched splash guards, side window vent visors, and the 'C' posts on the rear doors. Once I get all this painted, I'll have to see if I am done, or come up with something else to change. One other thing I would like to do is remove the black plastic 'skids' from the roof. Been thinking about polished aluminum, but that could be beyond my capabilities at home, not to mention expensive.

Nice

Thats gonna really be something when you get it all done! :worshippy:
Great stripe!

Wow! I was considering this myself. I own a sign co. and was going to make one up for my new Nitro. I have the plotters and digital printers and vinyls to make them myself. High Voltage-- nice comp of the stripe, but I don't know why you couldn't have the stripe made in silver. I have several silver vinyls in my stock. I remember years ago when I made one of these stripes and put it on my dad's Dodge Dart GT. Good luck to you all who do this!
Go for it man! Were you just going to do the stripe, or were you going to add graphics too?
Graphic

I was going to create what would probably be a more "retro" style graphic. Kind of in the same style as the original Super Bee. I have a lot of the old Dodge "scat pack" graphics digitized from the '70's ya...when I was a kid. LOL!
This is my post-divorce-midlife-crisis-mobile and I LOVE IT!
