I was just wondering if anyone else was worried about the cooler, (oil? trans? A/C?) that is visible just under the location of the front plate? I'm a little worried about stones flying up and killing the cooling fins. I went and bought some expanded steel today to make a grill out of to cover it up. Bought some chrome paint to cover it with, and 2 part clear for durability. I'll post pics when it's installed...

I agree cooler is definetly accident waiting to happen but have you looked under the 4.0 and seen how exposed the oil filter is anybody heard or seen a skid plate out there yet ???

Good idea.
Just a thought though, beware of restricting the airflow to the cooler too much. It could cause an overheating problem. I know the steel you are thinking of using and it should be ok, but just beware..

Well, for a total outlay of about $30 Canadian, here is the finished piece... I wish I could do it over again, and maybe I will, with a few tweatks, but my mind is at ease now, so I'm happy...

I used some black 4" zip ties and some very small holes I Dremmeled through the plastic bumper. I used 10 of them, and the thing is on there very solid, and you can't see the zip ties from more than 2 feet away...

Looks good the cooler protector but anything out there on a skid plate besides a bull bar I am more to the sleek look than the 4x4 bull bar

Skid plates would be really easy to make yourself, and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying one... When my wife gets home, I'll have a look underneath and see what I think...
