DaimlerChrysler Canada Sales Rise 26.5 per cent in December

Mix of new, existing models raise 2006 sales 1.7 per cent over previous year - Dodge Ram sets all-time yearly record of 39,837 units - Four-door Jeep(R) Wrangler Unlimited and Chrysler 300 are among December highlights - Dodge Caliber and Ram pickup among 2006's best-selling vehicles >> WINDSOR, ON, Jan. 3 /CNW/ - DaimlerChrysler Canada today reported a total of 18,589 vehicles sold in December, including 4,213 cars and 14,376 trucks.Compared to December 2005 when 14,695 units were sold, sales for the month are up 26.5 per cent. Car sales for December 2006 increased 58.1 per cent and truck sales increased 19.5 per cent. Sales for the year are up 1.7 per cent,to 220,553 units. "We are closing the books on 2006 with five consecutive months of sales increases and an impressive December," said Reid Bigland, President and CEODaimlerChrysler Canada. "I fully expect this momentum to carry on into 2007 and, based on consumer reaction to our new Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge models, I am optimistic about the year ahead." December Sales Highlights December sales showed positive consumer reaction to new and existing models. Jeep Wrangler sales, including the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimitedsold 793 units in December while Dodge Ram pick up sales of 3,485 units are up8.0 per cent. All-new models such as Dodge Nitro and Jeep Compass are adding significant incremental sales volume in December. Year-to-Date Highlights Total truck sales for the year were flat at 0.3 per cent above last yearto 165,004 units. Dodge Ram pickup sales of 39,837 units are up 6.3 per centand set an all-time record. Dodge Sprinter sales are up 26.8 per cent overlast year's totals. In cars, Dodge Caliber, with sales of 19,524 units is exceeding expectations while Dodge Charger sales rose 155 per cent to 7,440 units.
