Recall

I just saw the article on the net. Its something they had to repair. Hopefully it will take care of the problem. I have an R/T since April and have had no problems with the engine dying and no other problems either.

It's funny that out of all these Nitro owners, we heard it here before Dodge notifed any of us!

Thanks NitroTech!

Seems like we've had a discussion or two about this TIPM being a possible issue. Lets hope it puts a stop to the problem!

Had mine done today. Dealer could not figure out how I knew about the recall. My stalling problem was on file so the dealer performed the recall without any paper work from Dodge. Hope this is the fix. Only time will tell.

I heard this on Detroit AM newsradio earlier today that Chrysler is recalling Wrangler and Nitro vehicles.

Chrysler Recall
Washington, D.C. -- (AP) - Chrysler said Tuesday it was recalling more than 80,000 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro sport utility vehicles in the United States because of possible engine stalling.
Chrysler Group, a unit of DaimlerChrysler AG, said the recall would allow dealers to reprogram a power module to remove the potential for a brief interruption of electrical power to the instrument panel and the engine.
The automaker said the power interruption could lead to a short engine stall, but said the engine would immediately restart if the vehicle was in motion.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the Wrangler in May after receiving reports of engine stalling. Chrysler said the agency has received about 180 complaints of engine stalling in Wrangler and Nitro vehicles.
There has been one accident linked to the issue, the company said, but no injuries have been reported. Chrysler will notify owners about the recall later this week and the work will be completed at no cost to consumers.

I just got off the phone with the service shop boss at my dealer. He's delighted to have one coming in - it's going to be the 'teaching model' for his Nitro and Liberty techs on Thursday morning. It's the first one scheduled at this particular Dodge dealership in Anchorage. Like Allan's dealer (above) he was surprised I knew specifics on the recall, but he's glad to get one in right away.

Chrysler Recalls 2007 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Nitro SUVs

80,000 Vehicles Could Have Trouble in a Power Module

Chrysler said Tuesday it was recalling more than 80,000 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro sport utility vehicles in the United States to correct a problem that could make the engine stall.

Thanks Bill. I do my best to keep us up-to-date. Yea, if I look back through my posts I had a feeling the TIPM was the culprit. Now that this HUGE problem has been solved and finally it can be put behind us to FULLY enjoy our new Nitro's!!! :Banana01:

I am so glad they finally figured this out! I was starting to get really frustrated and pissed off because they couldn't figure out why mine would cut on and off by itself and when they had it for a week it never cut off or on for them. Thank god someone finally figured this out.

nitro problems

My nitro was nothing but problems. It also shut off going down the road at 70 MPH but that isnt all.I was going down the hwy and the tires started to make this really bad noise. So I pulled over and saw nothing wrong. So I started out again and it did it again so I went down an off ramp and I had no steering and the brakes went out.I was going across 3 lanes of traffic.

The tracking went out and the tourk ? converter was out.very scary. The steering was the most scary thing. Then I got it back and the front end still made a rattling noise.By this time I didnt trust the truck.I made a big enough stink about the truck and they did a buy back and i got a different nitro. Now I see they are recalling them.OMG whats next?I love the truck but I just dont trust them.Another lady had her back tires locked up and got into an accident with hers.
