I got my recall last friday and took it in today (wednesday) to get fixed. It was time for the oil change anyways so, but was told it would take an hour and a half for the recall and then half hour for the oil/lube change. I never had a problem with my wipers but figured might as well get it taken care of now while the parts were in stock..

I got my recall notice in the mail monday, called dealer and set date for friday to get recall took care of,they didnot have the parts in stock ,they said they would order the parts and have them when I brought my nitro in,if you get your notice you may want to call a head so they can order parts

Same thing happened when my wife called the dealer. They told her they eight people call so far. Now we gotta wait for a post card to come in the mail and then take it in. Maybe I'll try and test drive Challenger . ;)

I did receive this recall (about a week or so ago) and took my Nitro in yesterday for the work. It took them about 2.5 hours to complete that particular work.

While they had my car back in "no man's land" they had to diagnose ($105 charge) as to why my check engine light was on - two small hoses cracked in the evap system -- $11 in parts, $220 in labor... then they told me I needed a new fuel tank ( when filling up the valve does not stop the gas from overflowing) to the tune of $900 parts/600 labor (no thanks) - when they finally returned my car to me I got in and the battery was dead so they tried to sell me a $135 battery (must have been made of gold) ... oh well, at least I got my wiper issue fixed!

Took the Nitro in yesterday . 2 hrs later done .

There was another couple there not sure what vehicle they had in for work but the dealer told them they will need new front brakes. They wanted to charge them $300.00 . The husband tore them up stating he already bought the parts to do it himself for less than half the cost. I haven't shopped around to get brakes done 'cause I do that myself but I think $300.00 for the front only is a bit on the high side.

It's high because of the labor rate. At between $84 and 108.00 an hour. I had the rear brakes done at the dealer and it cost me $274.00. Just like it cost me $129.00 for them to do spark plugs. Rip-off? I'd say so. But at the time I didn't have a choice. Take a look at how much a brake job is on a German vehicle is? Benz,Rover,BMW, Audi can cost thousands. $300 is really cheap. And for that $300 was it just pads? Or pads and rotors?

My dealer quoted me $310 for front pads and rotors only on my Nitro. I got Ceramic pads and new rotors for $140 out the door from Pep Boys. If it weren't for the rims ceased onto the rotors and rotors ceased onto the spline, I would have had the front brakes and rotors changed in about 1 hour. It is not that hard.

Took mine in for some other work and asked them to do this at the same time, now I am without my nitro for the weekend !!!!

When they put in the new TIPM module and flash the software the TIPM fried and they are having to wait on the module to come in because non can be sourced in Texas...this sucks...Just got new tires and a full 30K mile checkup (expensive checkup) and alignment...im spending about 900 bucks and now im stuck in my free warranty rental until they get the windshield wipers working...they cannot release it to me with the wipers down :(

Unfortunately this confirms my feeling I posted about your alignment question.

Yeah , I know all about the cost of repair on BMW's a buddy of mine had a M5 . Repair bills for insane.

I gotta do the plugs on my Mazda . The dealer wants about $300.00 last I checked .

It was $300.00 for the front , I know at the very least it was for semi-mettalic pads. They did go far enough in their rant with the guy to find out if it included new rotors or if they were just cutting them. But I imagine the vehicle would have to be high milage to have the rotors replaced unless the person(s) really beat on it .

Don't get me wrong I'm not a car/truck repair God , there are some things I can do and other things I'll have somebody else do. Then there somethings I start and wish I had somebody else do . Generally if I can take it apart I can put it back together and it works fine . I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing anybody for paying the dealer or somebody else to do the work. Life , time and work space or lack there of also dictates if somebody can do their own work. Like oil changes , I'll have somebody else do that .

I got the recall notice as well. Took it in last Monday (March 22nd) and they didn't have the parts any more. Took it back the next Monday (March 29th) and they installed it, but they couldn't flash the power module. They had to order a new one that should have been in the next day, but didn't come in til Wednesday. Lucky the new one worked out and I now have my Nitro back. No cost for the Module and no cost for my rental, the dealer picked up the tab.

I have been at my Dealer nearly three Weeks ago and informed about this Recall J28. He saw that it has been wirtten in the Dodge Info Database and directly ordered necessary Spare Parts. Yesterday I have been there: Still no Information from Chrysler Berlin about the Spare Parts Delivery.
