I found a video on YouTube where a guy shows how to decompress the spring and hold it compressed with “zip ties” and then remove the “zip ties” when the spring is in placeI have the same problem and figured replacing the hinge (with a spring already in the hinge) is the best way to get that "hold open" feature back. I looked for just the spring for a while and I even if I did find it, I don't think it can be compressed back into the hinge with it installed.
I ended up buying it.😉![]()

At least he'll have the spring. Maybe the roller on the existing hinge is okay? I'd be interested to know if zip ties would hold that spring compressed. Although unbolting the door doesn't seem too bad - it's only 4-8 nuts.I bet this hinge has broken roller, way too much rust.
