Just when I was sat wondering if the UK was ever going to catch up with this recall...a letter drops in the post from FCA UK Ltd. Although Dodge withdrew from the UK a good number of years back, and FCA claim they no responsibility to repair Dodge vehicles in the UK...all is not lost.

All owners here in the UK should be receiving the same letter shortly!!

The letter gives details of 2 companies to contact, one in Sweden and the other in Germany. One of these kwauto.com shows appointed dealers here in the UK on their website, my nearest is Unity Automotive in Kidlington, Oxford. I spoke with them when the W09 recall notice was received, and they confirmed they would be handling the recall repair when a full repair was issued. Having had the temporary repair carried out by a Jeep dealer at my cost, it's now time for me to contact Unity to get the full and final repair.

This will be once I've managed to repair the darn driver's door unlock problem

i recieved a letter about 2 years ago, with only 2 options offered, take my Nitro to Belgium or Switzerland, so mine has not been done, maybe they will send me a new letter with some realistic optons,

someone said if you don't have the safety recall done, then your vehicle could fail its annual inspection, at the moment no one has mentioned at my last inspection,

Yeah Nitrogen’s got the point right. Here in the “nanny state UK” our annual MOT test is getting ridiculously tight. Fairly sure at some point they will be checking for satisfied recall notices. The other issue is the insurance industry too may check, it’s already possible on the .gov.uk website to check outstanding recall notices here in 🇬🇧

Although I hate going through the MOT inspection each year. It’s there for a darn good reason. We all like to think we know our vehicle condition, but when mine through in December I had no idea my handbrake was in the the inspector’s words “ doing f*** all”. The cantilevers in the rear drums had rusted solid.

then there’s just good old peace of mind, it’s not always a head on crash that may trigger the airbag.

Hehe seeing as the temporary fix was to remove the emblem they’ll need to fix a new one in. I thought someone said it was a new airbag cover with emblem fixed in place that might suggest it’s glued.

whatever it is I’m fed up staring at the 😮 emoji that’s been left

I agree with Dodge owners being let down badly with recalls here in the UK. As several Jeep models have the same issue and Jeep dealers are authorised to repair these brands, why the heck are they not being authorised to repair Dodge models. This just smacks of getting themselves off the hook as a group in whatever way they can.

FCA UK Ltd…you could of course rearrange the letters to spell out something else 🤬

Anyways, my point is more about having a vehicle with an open recall notice. I don’t intend to give UK Gov a reason to swipe me off the road, it’s hard enough keeping it running with all the gremlins built and designed into it:cry:

Ah the door issue…hard reset was the first thing I tried, in fact several times it didn’t work for me. Good to see you’re in Somerset, I’m in jolly Bristol 👍

Isn't the fix just to apply a dab of glue to it?
It seems the revised version of the recall calls for the dealership to check to see if all of the retaining clips are firmly on the back of the existing airbag emblem. If all the clips are still there, then they just add tape. If any of the clips are loose, or missing, then they replace the whole airbag cover.

This is a little bizarre, so any Nitro subjected to the W09 temporary fix is now at a disadvantage. There will be no clips to check as the badge has been removed. No loose clips probably means no justification for new airbag cover…time to make the phone call to the dealer to check this out, gonna be a pretty unhappy chap by the sound of things.

I'm pretty sure the people that got the temporary fix, of having the badge removed, will be getting brand new airbag covers. I think they only leave your current airbag cover and badge alone, and add tape, is if your current badge is still fully secured, with all three retaining clips.

But don't quote me on it.
