Hey, guys I am back!

I had a pretty nasty motorcycle accident, and have been out of commission for awhile. Things are going great now, and I will be around here again.

At the beginning of the year, I had all my mod parts and was waiting for the Dyno. They cancelled my appointment a couple times, then I was in the bike wreck. Well, a couple days ago, I finished installing the CAI, *** exhaust, and the Jet stage 2 module.

I didn't do the much waited for Dyno, but, the seat of pants Dyno, says WOW what a differance!

I recommend these mods to anyone that wants to give the Nitro a little extra juice.

I had 87 oct gas in it when I did the mods. Jet recommends 91 oct. With the 87, I did notice at crusing speed, a little slight bubbling sound, maybe a miss? I put 91 oct in and the sound went away and there is a small noticable change in the response.

The exhaust sounds great. It has a low throaty sound at idle, and when I accelerate, it sounds mean.

I am very happy with the results. Next on the agenda, wheels, tires, and tint.

Dude... I feel for you man. I had a wreck a while ago with my ZX6r. Sucks, but basically i wouldn't have my Nitro if it wasn't for me getting hit and actually being alive still. All is good though as i had is serviced and back on the road again, damn it feels good to be free again!

So how did the jet stage 2 come up? How much change in horsepower?

You ride cruiser, sport, dirt?

Hope you feel better soon.

Tell me some more details on your exhaust?

My parts in the bin: K&N Polished CAI, JBA headers, Jet stage 2 chip, flowmaster 50 muffler with dual exhaust. I should have this all completed in the Next few weeks and we can compare notes.

So many people find the Jet Chip suspect, but I have only heard good things about them from Dodge users and I had a good experience with one on my big block chevy.

I don't know the horsepower change, but, I had the CAI and exhaust on, then drove it. Then I installed the jet. It is more responsive, from the get go, and on the freeway yesterday, at higher speeds, it is alot more responsive as well.

I rode a Harley. I was t-boned by a car that ran a red light, and will be getting the money to do my wheels and tires, on the Nitro, and get another motorcycle. I borrowed my friends a couple weeks ago, just to get back in the wind. It felt good.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have the C G S motorsports exhaust. My CAI is a custom made one.

I have heard things about the Jet, as well. I have installed them in a couple other cars with good results. You know how internet rumors are:D

Let me know how things go with your installs.

I put a flowmaster 40 series single exit on mine with the pipe chopped after a foot. I knew it would be loud but I didnt expect it to cause everything to rattle so much! I was thinking of switching to the 50 series dual exit to see if that fixes the problem or spring for the *** kit. any thoughts? thanks!

Before you make any changes, wait until I put on my 50 series with dual outlets.

I'll let you know how things turn out. Hopefully this will happen in a couple of weeks. I have also heard that headers actually mellow out the sound a bit. You might want to try them as a next step--- they can only help.

I just checked my milage, after installing my parts. I am getting 22.8 mpg! This was city(stop and go), freeway(at 60-80mph), and mountain(went to Mt Baldy, and San Gabriel Canyon).

Rick
That sounds great! But you had to replace half the works underneath to accomplish this! Too bad Dodge didn't use these parts to begin with! :chuckle::chuckle:

I replaced a couple parts, yes, but well worth it. i didn't really care about the MPG, but, accomplished what I set out to do, modify the engine to bring out the real beef behind the garbage Dodge used.:Banana01:

Blane Consurmer Reports and the US Consumer, Not Dodge

The sad thing about this is that Dodge or any automaker could put on performance exhaust and intakes for LESS than the stock parts.

The biggest reason for this restriction is that Consumer reports is very quick to jump in state, "noisy engine and drive train" . Hence the great engineering time spent on intake baffles, large mufflers, resonators etc.

Don't blame Dodge for this one. Blame the middle of the road tastes of most consumers who equate quite with quality.

This hard fact of life has been around a long time and is why the performance aftermarket is so large.

By Wed I should have my Nitro back with JBA headers, a flowwaster 50 and dual 2 1/4" pipes.

Not super load, but people will hear me coming.

Waldorf,

I would like to take credit for doing all this work myself, but this is the job that I negotiated as a group buy for dualexhaust work here in Raleigh. We buy the parts, the shop puts them on for a discount fee.---- Another advatage of this forum.

Myself and 340Cuda are having this done this week. The deal is still open to more local Nitro owners if they PM me.

The shop doing the exhast work will put on my headers for $150US. This is worth the money as the best time to do this is when the exhaust is down off its hangers.

I'll post pictures of the finsished product by the weekend.

I brought it down to the shop and I have found my new home.

This is a real NC hot-rod shop in the backwoods with a talented Mechanic who knows old-school quality work.

Tonight my Nitro is in the company of a 67 Mint Camaro SS, a 55 Chevy, 64 Chevy PU, and a '63 2 door Chevy Belair.

All this would not happen if I were not on the Nirto forum.

I found this shop from the owner of a '39 Ford who I met at the cruise-in that Terry organized on this Forum.

Terry if you see this---- Think it over -- the duals would sound great on your RT. I have the price available to all Nitro owners if you PM me.
