I checked in here on the site awhile back after I had ordered my sunburst Nitro. It arrived in only 4 weeks with my name right there on it, but I've had to wait 4 more weeks to go get it, as I was waiting for the outcome of my lemon law complaint on my VW Touareg.

SO AT LAST! This morning got the "all systems go" that my buyback complaint against VW is a win for me, ran right down to the Dodge dealership, spent the whole day paying for, figuring out warranty stuff, and checking out my custom-built beauty. It's an R/T 4.0 sunburst with pretty much every available option, tow package, sun roof, MyGIG, Nav, remote start, leather interior. The only thing I didn't get was the rear-seat extra DvD viewer, because my sons are grown and have their own cars!

I've been talking about this car at work (a fire authority) since I ordered it, and all the guys have been saying "DUDE!" (they say that here in southern california, even to middle-aged women like me!) "WHAT A CHICK MAGNET! If I drove around in that car......" To which of course I reply BAH nobody touches my Nitro! Wait until everybody sees it at work on Monday. As it was, I could barely get away from the dealership. All the salesmen, the finance manager, pretty much every employee stood around and stared at and admired it, loving the color, surprised and amazed. Freaked out at all the options on it. They had never had a sunburst orange one on their lot before ... but, after seeing how truly gorgeous the color (and the rest) is, I wouldn't be surprised if they idea dawns on them that maybe they should actually deliberately put another one on their lot.

Anyway, you fancy people with your cameras are always doing the pictures... but hell I'm moving and have no idea what box my camera is in. I'll get it done at some point and post 'em -- maybe some nice buddies at work will whip out their digitals and help me out.

So I'm thrilled and am now a 100% legit and full-bore NITRO OWNER! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. It makes me smile every time I even glance at it, let alone drive it. I'm going to asap modify the intake and exhaust -- as for other stuff, I'll have to consider, search, think and save awhile :)

Here's to us and our happy choice in vehicles!

Cheers from Orange County California!

congrats mdwcalif! it's always great to hear the initial review and feelings from new Nitro owners! Last year when I took delivery of my electric blue RT, my dealerships employees did the same thing. I was getting the plates put on by the saleman and standing there admiring it and another electric blue Nitro rolled up and the owner said he had to stop in as he saw my Nitro from the road! Don't worry, you will get lots of attention and stares and questions!! Enjoy!

Welcome to the bright side mdwcalif. I was complimented on my Orange Nitro this morning by another Nitro driver. Yes it does look good even when dirty which mine always seems to be this time of year.

Anyway welcome to the forum and I hope you stick around....:)

What a rollicking welcome! Thanks to you all! I should probably say my name, "mdwcalif" is so awkward -- Hi, I'm Marla, and I'm addicted to sunburst orange .... and I smile uncontrollably at my Nitro, and.... yes I hug it every day, and ... yes I've ordered the extra fancy alarm system because I am CONVINCED that everyone who sees it will want to steal it ...

So, I'm in the right place, yes?

To answer your question, f4kev, my Touareg yes indeed was a $40k automobile. I intended to drive it into the ground, with my kayak rack aboard and running all over the place with its happy all-wheel drive and great handling and all that good stuff. It handles GREAT, I must say .. but in the 2-1/2 yrs I've owned it it has eaten its power supply to death 4 times, and downed the battery far enough to cause computer failures 2 more times. As best I can tell (and the dealership has given up), it's a phantom electrical/electronic problem. There are other issues with the Touareg -- it's getting something like 7mi/gal, and trashed all 4 tires in 12k miles... something about the wheel size and axle and drive train, sizes not meshing, a knowledgeable friend tried to explain it to me ... I don't know. I have been so disgusted I stopped wanting to understand its problems. It's a luxury vehicle, nicer, fancier than anything I had owned before, and I hated it for the first time I ever hated my own vehicle in my life. It was a mess. The Touaregs are pretty famous for having electrical problems. And the brakes squealed relentlessly (embarrassing). And the V6 had trouble hauling its 5,000lb butt up a hill (embarrassing). And it ate itself (batteries) alive at horribly unpredictable times, over and over again, usually right when I thought it wasn't going to happen again. So it qualified right down the center line for a lemon law case.

Anyway, the Nitro is almost too sexy to be a truck, but mostly I'm a truck kind of girl, so I'm going back toward my true nature with this vehicle, and already I feel like I'm home again.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new car. I liked that Orange color when we were looking at the Nitro but my wife insisted we get the Electric blue. I loved the Blue as well so it wasn't a hard sell.

I have owned 9 VWs over the years (66 through 96) and even raced a couple. They have had the quirkiest electrical systems of all the brands I have owned. Even worse than my Triumph TR3A, MGs and Alfa Romeos. My son is on his second VW but he has had no problems and loves his GTI! He practically lives on the VW forum! But I digress! I am glad you were able to get out from under your Lemon!

Post us up a few snapshots when you can and hang around here and ask any questions that arise.
