Has anybody heard of the the Flo Master 50 Series SUV muffler being installed on a Nitro? I was told the sound would not be as loud as the Gibson and MagnaFlow. Is this true?

Are you saying the Gibson & Magnaflow are too loud for you? Seems like the consensus on this forum was they are pretty quiet.
Didn't HV go with the Flowmaster 40 on his R/T?

I can speak of the Gibson and it is just right. I wouldn't go quieter especially aftermarket.

Hey guys. Here is what I found out at the muffler shop.

Mellow------to-----screaming

1)stock
2)Magnaflow
3)Borla
4)SpinTech or Flowmaster 50 series
5)Flowmaster 40 series
6)Flowmaster 30 series

I got the Flowmaster 40 series single-in, dual-out. My wife says it 'vibrates in her head' so she doesn't like it very much. I probably should have gone with SpinTech, but hey, I like it and she doesn't ride with me very often. Admittedly, it can be raucous above 3500 rpm.

It may depend on whether you have the 4.0 or the 3.7

One other thing about these mufflers, most of these companies make long bodied designs and short bodied designs. The long ones are a lot more mellow than the short ones. If you want louder, go with the short bodied one. If they quoted you the Flowmaster 50 SUV, they were most likely talking about the long body design.

As far as the difference in these mufflers sounding louder from the 3.7 to the 4.0, that shouldn't make any difference if you are talking about only listening to them on the 3.7 or only on the 4.0. The muffler guys told me which ones were louder, then set about proving what they told me by installing each one succession.
