What did you pay? I went to a customs shop in Thousand Oaks, CA and the dude wanted $300 to pop off the tail lights and paint both sides of the lights to give them the " blacked out effect". Seems a little too pricey to me....

And to those who have doone the jobs themselves, either with paint or the decal, what was the cost for the materials, where did you get them, and was the process difficult?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated as for i would like to do either ASAP

Thanks!!!

wow

300 bucks, u shuld go back and kick him in the face....thats a joke..the MOST you should pay is 100 for both lights and they better use professional materials. Now for my nitro i searched for a ton of places but a lot of them have stopped doing it since here in miami,fl the cops get a little crazy and ask where you did your lights. if you want to do them yourself its very very easy and thats what i decided to do...you can buy some VHT NIGHTSHADE online for around 9$ a can. use it like you were painting something normally and let it sit aftr every coat. repeat until it comes out like u want....make sure to clean the light before u put it on, and to let the light cool down from the sun or else it will start to haze up...lemme know

Are 'black-outs' legal in your areas? I guarantee if my Nitro had those tail lights - I'd be stopped before I could get out of my neighborhood! I like the look, don't get me wrong - but around here, it wouldn't be worth it - the Police would have every right to stop me everytime they saw me and write me a $200 ticket for illegal equipment!

black outs

Black outs are a secondary offense here in Washington. Say they pull you over for speeding, they can also sight you for the black outs. They just cannot originally pull you over for seeing the black outs. Some other secondarys in Washington are:
talking on cell phone while driving
blue colored lights on a non-emergency vehicle (even tiny LED's)
Dark (limo) tinted windows in the front (% of tint varies by county)
any tinted cover over rear license plate

Of course these are not all of the ways they control us - just a sample-

*PS you do not need a windshield, but must have functioning wipers! You cannot legally leave the vehicle unattended while running - even on your own property (No remote start).
