Hello ladies & gents. My name is John, I live in Arizona, and I'm a moparaholic. I absolutely love my Nitro R/T, despite the few glitches I have with it. It's a brand new platform, so I expected these bugs when I bought it.

I have some pics of my truck hosted Here.

I've had it about 5 months, and my wife and I already put about 14K miles on it.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all, I look forward to seeing what this forum has to offer.

Welcome John. No the rear spoiler is not part of the package. But your pix make me want one. It's been several months since I added anything to mine. By any chance do you have a Jet Chip in yours?

Tim

No, I don't yet. But I will be getting one soon. I think I'm going to do an intake first. Just buy a K&N cone, and machine the pipe, coupler and heat sheild myself. All the effect, 1/4 of the cost :D.

I'm going to get the chip for several reasons. I like performance, but it also looks like it stops some of the "downshift and surge" problems I have when driving around in 25mph schools zones and stuff. Basically, when I'm cruising along at 20-30mph, and I barely breathe on the gas, the truck downshifts and takes off. The chip gives it a little more power, which gives a little more throttle play before the load is high enough to downshift.

Yeah, I hear about the take off on downshifts while driving at slow speeds, but I don't have it in mine. I can't remember ever having that, but then again I put a FlowMaster 40 and duals on within weeks of getting my hands on it. I have a K&N drop-in in mine which I think also helped. It has enough torque to accelerate at 1300 rpm in any gear that it might otherwise should not have been running in without the need for a down shift. Also I broke mine in fairly mildly during the early months I owned it. I can't really say if any of these things benefited my Nitro extensively with the exception of the exhaust. It was the first thing I did and was most noticeable after the installation. I will definitely consider adding a Jet Chip now. But for me and my driving habits, I don't think it will have any fuel economy benefits. If it increases the fun factor, it will be worth it. I also wanted the headers, but I guess JBA isn't going to get their act together anytime soon.

Hi, welcome to the forum! I've had my SXT for 5 months now and there's just a little over 3300 miles on it, guess it's been gently used.;)

I've enjoyed your photos and posts so far, good to have you here.:Racing:

Hey John, its nice to meet you here. I'm looking forward to reading more posts from you as you seem to be another auto enthusiast.
Thanks for the pics. I too like that spoiler..nice..
Yeah, I'm a standard gear head type. I'm really into classic looking Mopars modified with modern power making equipment. As my everyday driver, I'll mod the Nitro but I'm not going to go completely crazy with it. I plan on CAI & chip, with the possibility of exhaust.

My other project is insane, you'll probably get a laugh out of this.:D In the RV tandem of my garage I have a 1973 "Indian Summer" edition Chrysler Newport (a.k.a EFFING HIDEOUS). This is a 21 foot long, dull gold land yacht with white and blue/red plaid interior. Well, long story short, I'm taking the 400cid powerplant, building it out, and turbocharging it with a massive Garette. That's right. I want to build a 12 second 21ft X 7ft 4900 pound monster. I'm still pretty much in the blueprinting stage, but I'm making headway with the engine build out at the same time.

I'm more of a forced induction type of guy, so I seriously considered drawing up some scheme to add a turbocharger to the Nitro, but the excellent warranty I'd be voiding and the 10.4:1 compression ratio scared me away from that, as I would probably have to pit the pistons.

Yeah, I live outside of town, passed the suburbs as it were. My commute to work is 48 miles one way. I have a little ford hatchback that gets a zillion miles per gallon that I usually drive to and from work. However, since we got the Nitro my wife has come up with a few excuses a week to drive the truck into the town and back :Racing:. I can't seem to convince her to stop. :D

It is nice to meet everyone. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one obsessive over the look and fell of the Nitro.

A big welcome from another AZ Nitro

:Racing:Hi John, I too live in AZ and have an Inferno red R/T since May. You can check out my ride at gbh245. I don't have near the miles you have, as I drive my wife's 07 Eclipse to work for periods of time cause she works at home and doesn't drive it enough. I did numerous cosmetic things to my Nitro as well as a Flowmaster 40 single to dual exhaust and dropped in a K&N. I have not experienced any of the problems with the tranny that many have. I think it has something to do with the R/T and the 4.0 plus 5 spd auto trans. Anyway, welcome to the forum. I am hoping to drop in a chip in the future. You can learn much from many just by reading the posts and replies.
