I am working on a group buy for custom dual exhaust with a Raleigh, NC shop. This is a Flowmaster 50 series, 3" in and dual 2.25" outlets going to straight 2.25" pipes out the back. Retain your spare tire also.

This setup will work for both 3.7 and 4.0.

This is a turnkey instal deal at the shop. They will also instal shorty headers if you have them. The man doing the work is an experienced (read not a kid) guy who has done custom exhaust for street rods for 20+ years.

If you are interested, Please PM me. I need multiple people from this forum to leverage a better price. I am hoping to get the basic job down below $ 300.00 without tips.

You must be willing to drive to Raleigh, NC as this is a bend-on-site install. No mail order parts.

OK, we have 2 of us in on this deal. How about 1 or 2 more.

I have quotes from 3 shops, 2 of them will install JBA headers as part of the deal. Have negotiated a 15% discount with one shop for 2 or more Nitros, but he is not the lowest cost guy.

Looks like all 3 are in the ballpark of $ 325.00 plus the cost of the tips. We just can't seem to squeeze out that extra $100.00 that you Guys in TX can.

Part of this is that we are using a Flowmaster 50 and larger 2.25" pipes. This probably adds another $ 50 or so to the parts & labor.

All 3 shops recommended the larger pipes as a way to deepen the V6 sound. One strongly agreed tha the Flowmaster 50 was the best choice from his experience with V6 work.

Please PM me to get in on this deal. We may end up buying the parts ourselves for extra savings and in that case, there may be some more leverage in numbers.

I'd like to pull the trigger on this by the end of the week so that we can order parts.

OK looks like we have a deal set up.

We'll buy the Flowmaster Muffler and nice SS tips. Shop will do the rest.

The work will be done by a local experienced Hot Rod shop out in the country. Good 'ole moonshine "transporter" car experience here.

I like the personal touch rather than the big shops and his price ended up competive now that we have 2 Nitros. The whole deal with parts muffler tips will end up around $ 350-- the target from Established by HighVoltage Nitro---- thanks for leading the charge.

JBA header install will be $ 120 or less.

PM me for details.

Again, this is a drive to the shop and leave it for a day deal. You need to be willing to come to the Raleigh area for a day or 2.

Components For 2 1/4 Dual Exhaust

Here are the parts going into this system.

The Flowmaster 50 series Muffler has a massive 3" inlet and this large diameter carries through the baffles as well. Though the Nitro inlet is 2 1/2", the 3" still is an advantage as the interior passages are larger. The shop will use a reducer at the inlet.

The dual 2 1/4" outlets should also help deepen the V6 sound.

In addition to reduced Backflow, the large diameter pipes should give the system a deeper sound.
Tips are Flowmaster double-walled SS Flowmaster.

340 Cuda and I soon will have these on our Nitro (Cuda did not go for the headers though)

PM me if you want in on this deal. PS I get no money for this, I am just helping to arrange the best deal in town.

This is a well built unit, heavy guage, great welds. No flex as in the stock unit (Don't mind my feet)

Interested in Duals

Ken
I own an 07 RT. Your deal for installation of duals sounds very interesting. I'm located in Raleigh so this will be convenient for me. I have a couple of questions.

What happens to the spare tire?
Are there any permanent mods to the rear suspension?
Are the pipes aluminized?

I would like to meet you and see the installation and hear the sound when the job is completed.

To answer your questions:

1. You keep the spare tire, the pipes are routed behind it.
2. No mods at all to rear suspension
3. The deal negotiated uses 2 1/4 " HD aluminized pipe

My setup is very similar to HighVoltage Nitro and Scion--- do a seach on each member and you will see detailed pictures of the pipe routing. Mine differs in that I am using larger outlet pipes and a 50 series Flowmaster.

I'll post pictures and a sound clip when finished. We can arrange to meet somewhere for a cup of coffee if we can work out a convenient time and place. If you are intersted, the best thing to do is for us to meet at the shop that is doing the deal. This way you can meet the owner.

Some other time, maybe you and I and 2KoolRT can meet (he is also in the Raleigh area)

Update on Dual Exhaust/Header Install

The shop was a little backed up, so they will not finish until tomorrow. I don't want to rush the guy.

The owner of the shop is doing this one personally and he is being very methodical. He checked torque specs for the headers, used anti-seize on the bolts and generally taking great care.

He is also taking step by step pictures for me so that I can post them here on the web---- how many big time shops would do that!!

Great job Ken! I can't wait to see the pics. I know nothing about headers or exhaust systems, but I do know I want dual exhaust and big chrome tips out the back!!! The cold weather is approaching fast here, so I won't get to that or the Jet stage 2 chip or the CAI until next spring!!! Time for the bear to hibernate, but I won't be far from my computer!! :chuckle:

Waldorf,

If you need to escape the cold, come on down to sunny NC for a long weekend and I will set you up at my guy for the exhaust and I will help you put in the Chip & CAI for a few 6 packs of Labatts.

Maybe if Toronto makes it down here to the RBC center eh?

Thanks for the offer Ken, that's very generous of you! It also sounds very tempting! You just want to get your eyeballs on my backup camera install! :chuckle:

I just might plan on something like that! I told you about my trip last March to Pittsburgh with my son to see the Penguins play, I know NC is a lot farther, but I would enjoy the adventure! :Racing:

I almost ordered a K&N CAI, but balked at the shipping cost the rotter was going to charge me!!

Waldorf,

Try Summit racing. They have free shipping, at least in the US. The charge a small, flat, handling fee, but if you are ordering a few different items it becomes insignificant.

They have the K&N CAI as well as a few others.

I bought my K&N from a local Autozone, because I wanted that immediate gratification factor.

Ken,
I looked at Summit Racing website and saw the K&N CAI's they offer. The only one listed for Dodge Nitro say "3.7L" on it. I have the RT with 4.0L engine.

Update:

Our guy needs to borrow a friend's bender to make one sharp bend on the crossover pipe. His machine can't quite make this with 2 1/4 Pipe.

My Nitro will be delayed until tomorrow.

The good news is that he is using my Nirto to make a pattern for the rest of you NC Nitro owners.

He will bend a few extra crossovers, in anticpation of more of you answering this call to action.

Hey Ken

Sounds like you've got a great mod planned...if I wasn't dealing (spending money) with the little Crossfire at the moment I'd be doing it with you. I ended up putting new tires on at $1700.00 (Michelin Pilot PS 2's plus Nitrogen fill) I added the lighted door sills and had my door edges repainted...I have a great kid when and if you need any paint repairs done, he custom mixed the paint and blended perfectly, can't tell they were ever touched up.
Let's get together at Andy's? or somewhere after you get this done, I'd like to talk about it!

On the Chrysler Crossfire it is or was (they aren't producing Crossfires anymore even though they promised an '08 model) a factory add-on(about the only reall add-on option). The sills stainless protector plate has the word Crossfire which is backlit in blue when you open the doors...very cool addition, I'll try and capture a good picture of it. I don't think we could do this mod to our Nitro's because the sills are different. The X-Fires are deep and the Nitro's are flat

I picked up the new

Mopar performance catalog and was paging thru it today and had another brainstorm. I find it hard to effectively manually shift this autostik transmission because the shifter is so short. When I have my arm in position over the console the shift knob sits down in a valley and my wrist is restricted by contact with the console...Anyway I saw in the catalog they are selling the Hurst pistol grip shifters...could our shifter stems be retrofitted with a Hurst pistol grip handle therefore raising the hieght of the shifter knob? Wouldn't this be a 2 Kool mod? Think about it and get back to me, LOL!
