I'm 6'2" and I just know that after a couple of beers I'm going to get a gash on my forehead, the tailgate doesn't lift high enough.

It doesn't look like there's enough room between the top of the tailgate and the roof attachment to allow it go higher, but I was just curious if anyone has tried.

Good question, I've always said the tailgate was to low for us tall guys. I must look into that tomorrow. I will let you know what I find.

at 6'1 i've bumped the ole nogin a couple of times during drying after a wash,can imagine what would happen after a few cold ones

You'd have to change the location of the mounting to accommodate a longer liftgate lifts and like you mentioned there isn't enough room for the tailgate to go much higher due to body interference.
