Hello, just a little information I've run across and thought some members would find useful or informative. First this chart of Kelvin temperatures:

And this bulb information was on the back of a Sylvania Silverstar box.
Incandescent 2800K
Standard Halogen 3200K
Cool Blue (Sylvania) 3500K
Silver Stars (Sylvania) 4000K
Xenarc standard HID 4100K
Xenarc auxiliary HID 5400K

I know true HID, as some members are getting are in the 8000K range and above. Maybe someone that has those specs could fill us in. I guess I should add that I'm not expounding the virtues of one over the other, you can't compare apples to oranges. I'm just putting out a little information I thought some people would find interesting.

I am going to post a large post detailing the differences in Hid'in the next day or so but here is a few tidbits of info.

Every Factory car that comes with HID's are rated at 4300k. The reason why some cars look different then others is because of the projector that was chosen for that vehicle. The Lense on the projector can alter the color of the HID Bulbs.

If you go look at the hid guide on my website I have the above graph as well as many more explaining the differences of HID's.

Look out in my sponsor section in the next day or so with a thread detailing HID Lighting.

found some eurodezigns on ebay that claim 8500k in a xenon gas filled bulb. had these on my truck and they look more hyper white when looking at the light shined on something but if face the truck and look at the headlights they do have a blue hid look to em. brighter than stock and lifetime warranty on the bulbs and don't have to spend $200+ on a true HID projector conversion.

When you post this data, please also include a measuer of light output in the visible range-- candle power or some other.

I am more concerned with light output than color and all this talk of K confuses that issue.

If you bought just bulbs they are not filled with any type of "gas". It is possibly a higher watt bulb with a color tip on the end. The only want to get xenon light is to go with an HID kit since xenon is the type of gas used inside of the HID Bulbs.

pic just for reference not actual nitro bulbs... headlights:9008/H13 foglights:9145/H10

xenon krypton on the package...
what exactly are these then? I do know they are bright w/ blue tint and looking at price difference, a good alternative.

Hi,

These are regular halogen bulbs. They are possibly higher watt then the factory 55w and just have a blue tint on the outside of the bulb to give a color effect.

If you think these are bright then you have not seen anything yet until you try HID!
I couldn't agree more. I've tried almost every halogen bulb out there from Xenon "gas filled" bulbs(which I disapprove ove totally because of saftey issues/lack of light output), to Silverstar Ultra's(not a bad bulb, but no comparison to HID). When you put a set of HID's in your vehicle, you are driving in a total different world at night. And they look 10 better and brighter than any halogen bulb in my opinion.
