I'm sure there are quirks.

I would seriously get some maintenance done.

Timing belt, water pumpt, tensioner, belts, hoses, auto trans fluid change, differential fluid changes (I'm getting that all done on my new-used ride). Check brake fluid if it's really dirty; get changed if so.
