My first message on the Forum page. Purchased my Nitro in April 2007. I always wanted a white vehicle so guess what I bought? I like the sleek look of the vehicle. Reminds me of the 40's station wagon. Couple questions for the group. I have about 8000 miles on the vehicle and my gas mileage is only 18.4 MPG. Is anyone getting better mileage or is this what I have to look forward to? Does anyone know of any "Recalls" on the Nitro yet?

Hello NitroJo07, good to hear from you.
Well the mileage you are getting is about as good as it gets. There are quite a few threads with lots of posts on this subject. Here are a couple for you to read.

And there is a recall for a stalling issue but if you haven't had a recall letter yet you should be fine. Worth a call to the dealership though just for peace of mind. See this thread.

Once again welcome aboard and don't be shy about coming back. Look forward to hearing from you soon and lets see some pics of your Nitro.

It reminds me of the old Panel Trucks but with four doors. As far as the gas millage, first off it is a Dodge ;)...but I've found that by keeping my foot out of it and monitoring the MPG on the dash I have gone from 15 MPG up to between 18 to 20 MPG around town. Haven't taken a Highway trip yet.

Have you thought about an mod's yet? There's plenty of things you can do to "personalize" your ride. :Racing:

Welcome

Just wanted to say welcome. I hope you enjoy this great site. Everyday I read and learn something new. I was so impressed by the site that I became a site supporter.

Enjoy your new ride. Good luck

oh and by the way I have my Nitro now 3 months with about 5100 miles on it and I have been getting 17 miles per gallon city highway.

Well once again welcome and enjoy your new ride. Remember that all Nitro owners are the coolest people out there. Yes I agree they look like a throw back of earlier made cars very retro

Which model do you have? I have an R/T and have been pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy--considering the size and weight of the vehicle. Driving habits contribute greatly to fuel economy. I travel to Chico a few times monthly--a 60-mile journey. With air conditioning going, a passenger, and the cruise control set at 65 MPH, I average a bit over 22 MPG. On my trip to Chico last Sunday, the traffic was dense and did not invite using the cruise control. I made several accelerated passes to get around big rigs and RVs. My mileage was just over 18 MPG. Driving habits greatly affect fuel economy.
