Guday mate.

Hello from Australia, Just a quick note to say hi and thanks for all the information and views on the Nitro, took me all of 2 hours to run back to the show room and order my Nitro SXT in Black after reading your forum. Australian spec so a 2.8 Litre Diesel with 130Kw and 460 Nm Torque @ 2000 Rpm. Comes with 20 inch wheels and all the goodies expect Leather and Sunroof, too hot here for that. I have gone all American this year as I purchased a USA bowrider so now I have a USA Nitro to pull it.
Look forward to sharing more details of our specs and some pics when we pick it up hopefully on the 21st July.
Again thanks for all the info you guys post, this is a great site a look forward to regular updates.

How does the diesel run? Do you have a 6speed manual down under with that diesel?
He doesn't pick it up until the 21st, but would be interested to hear what he thought of the diesel in the test drive?

I'm going to test drive a diesel on Saturday. Will post what I think. From all the research I've done, it looks like a great car, but ride and handling in some reviews have been a little harsh. Suppose its personal opinions though!

Hi, Got a call from the dealer yesterday that it had arrived so will be test driving it Saturday to ensure i like it else back to the 3.7. The dealer has driven one and says it out performs the petrol but i will make up my own mind. It does have the Auto 5 Speed titronic box from the 300C SRT or so i have read anyway? which i hope is a bit smoother and faster than the 4 speed in the petrol. Wish we had the manual option. My wife has just admitted that without my knowing when we ordered the Nitro she and the dealer had arranged that the Rams Head Dodge logo was to be put on the bonet like they had on the demo, it measure about 400mmX400mm in silver, and she's the one that did not want to order the side steps as they may look, quote "too much". Will post some pics this weekend too.

Yep a 2.8 Turbo Deisel. This is cut from the link below.
Thankfully a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine will be offered (as an option) with a more responsible 5-speed automatic. The 4-cylinder oil burner pumps out more than 150Nm more torque than the petrol engine: 460Nm @ 2000rpm. Peak power is 130kW @ 3800rpm.
Dodge claims the petrol V6 motor returns fuel economy of 12.1L/100km, while the L4 diesel returns 9.4L/100km. Both figures are for the combined city/highway fuel cycle.

Rams Head Logo pics

Pics of the Rams head Mrs Wifey has organised for the front of our Nitro, I hope you like it. Test drive today went very well, the diesel is quiet and very powerful and the gearbox compared to the petrol was a massive improvement so the dealer will now prep the car and we take delivery next Saturday, will I last i am not too sure.
Now i have to talk wifey into the Chrome filler cap and i do like the Chrome wing mirrors. The dealer on the Central coast had 3 delivered, one being ours but by 3:30 on the same day the other 2 had gone, another black 2.8CRD and a Silver 3.7L both in SXT spec, he was very happy.
Cheers guys.:beerchug:

Hey, 8 weeks man that suck's, still read some section of this forum as i heard the leather creases a bit, I have 2 kids so the Stain and ordor proof fabric was the way to go.
I am on the Central Coast and the deal is Central Coast motor group CCMG.COM.AU what colour did you go for and did you or the petrol? shame we can't have the 4Litre with the RT spec. I would have gone petrol but the gearbox was naff, 4 speed in this day and age don't stack up too well.
Hope the 8 weeks goes quick.

The price was pretty standard at $47,450 drive away, don't get me going why deisel cost 3 grand more, go to europe and its the other way around with the petrol version more expensive. I agree on the looks people just stop and stare, especially the Outlander i pulled up to at the lights, he looked up and his face was "my god that is big" it sits about the same height as a Landcruiser, LOL but looks a million times better.
Can't wait till i get a good road trip under my belt.:Racing:
