I just visited my local German Dodge dealer this past week...I had the same question. It's basically a "package" that they have over here in Europe...also found out that there's no market for gas Nitro's...most of what they sell over here is diesel. I actually picked up the German brochure for the Nitro.

In germany the colors are the same, but everyone has a black or silver. My favorit is white, but the wait time is 6 monts.

I looked at one of the German brochures when I took my caravan in for a service and there are some different options on the german version compared to the US version. With the prices of gas over here on the economy I can see why the Diesel Nitro would be the engine of choice here.
