·Just wanted to chat with other Nitro owners. Love the vehicle but disappointed with the gas mileage. Also, bought it for me, but it is hard to get it away from my wife.

Welcome to the forum Mark Gibrick! Sorry you are unhappy with your fuel economy. Hope you find great info. here. If you are interested, just search for 'gas mileage' and you will find several posts on fuel economy from our members.

The gas mileage will improve as you accumulate mileage on the vehicle. Initially, I got just over 18 MPG on the highway, and now I am consistently getting a bit over 22 MPG. This is with the cruise control set at 65 MPH and the air conditioner running.

sometimes we women can be that way....I told my hubby to get his own.....lol!! he wants to get an '08 r/t ...can't say that I will not hog that one and give him mine....lol!!

You have to face up to it sooner or later, if your wife wants the Nitro she's gonna get it. Yes I know, the things we do for love :shakehead: like pay for the Nitro, pay the insurance, stickers, gas, oil changes etc, etc ,etc...
What you need to do is learn to cook.....then, when you put your foot down and take the Nitro, you'll know what to do when she doesn't feed you.....

So we all face the same issues with the wife, we pay they drive, at least in OZ we get free insurance for 2 years as part of the deal when purchasing any dodge, just get the wife to ok the side steps and I am cool:ura1:.
Enjoy the forum, the more I read these pages the more I understand that the Nitro and especially the people on this forum are special.

I know what you mean about the gas mileage. I get about 17 in the city and highway. This is better from old suv which was a 2004 Grand Cherokee laredo I was lucky if broke 12 miles to the gallon.
By the way I love my new Nitro have it almost 3 months and have about 3700 miles on it.
