Hello any and everyone,

I have a 2007 Nitro and I'm having some major issues with my car. I'm driving down the road and my esp bas, abs, parking brake, and traction control lights come on!!! Then the speedometer drops off quickly to 0 and catches back up to my normal! I went to advanced to get the code. It was P0573 - Cruise Control/Brake Switch Circuit A High. I need major help and don't know what to do. Don't have money to take it to a shop so I'm looking to fix it myself. Just don't know where to start!

First off, welcome to the forum. When you get a chance, head on over to the "Newbie Forum", for a proper welcoming.
Second, you will want to fill out your vehicle details so we know more about your Nitro (i.e. engine type, trim level, etc..)

Did the performance of your vehicle change at all when this happened? I agree with NitroRich it is most likely related to the switch, as I simply did a search online for the error code you received.

Welcome to the forum. If it turns out to be the brake light switch, this is a one use only assembly. If you take it out, you can not put it back in. You will have to replace it.

Hello and welcome Bjdonahoo27 (Bryan), to the Nitro “Z” family!
P0573 Cruise control/brake switch A - circuit high Wiring short to positive, cruise control/brake switch, ECM

I would also suggest starting with the brake switch, but again as dhh3 said, do not remove it unless you are replacing it. Once removed, it can not be put back in. You will need to get a new one.
Also look for chafed wires.
I'm looking forward to your future posts & Pics.
Remember, we always like new Mod ideas here.
Enjoy the forumz.

If you go to your User CP and fill in the details about your rig, the easier it will be for us to answer questions down the road, without us having to ask a bunch of questions. :thk:
You can see, this is what I drive.
Vehicle: 07 Nitro,4X4,6sp-man,3.7L
Trim Level: SXT
Color: Light Khaki
It is in the upper right of every post I make.

Bumping this thread as I'm running into the same exact issue at the moment. I do notice that I hear some clicking on the dash while the dash lights up and radio rebooting, I actually lost power as well. I was wondering was the fix?Regarding the break switch how far up the break padle is the switch?

The switch is pretty high. Easier to reach if you remove the filler panel under the steering wheel. The filler pane has clips on top, hinged at bottom.

Before doing any work on the Nitro, disconnect the Neg (-) battery cable, isolate It, and wait 10 minutes!

I just had this pop up. Never before. I traced it to my trailer harness. Dummy me didn't have the cover on the pins. Salt ran up and must have shorted across. Cleaned out and pending trouble code went away. Cruise control is back. All is good again. Scary as hell but the engine stayed running. It was like the vehicle did a quick reset and battery light stayed on. Freeze frame data recorded 15.16v. Never seen anything over 14.8v. Not sure if this helps or is really old. Best of luck.

FYI, regarding the brake light switch--it actually is possible to reinstall it--there's at least one youtube video where they show you how you can open it and reset the ratchet mechanism. OTOH, the part is only $20.
