I bought my nitro 3 mo ago. Going to be doing some changes to it. I love to play in the mud so were going to lift it and put on some after market mud tires.

Welcome to the forum,

Don't listen to the naysayers, the Nitro can be driven off-road--- but carefully. See my thead-- http://www.nitroforumz.com/showthread.php?t=7214&highlight=UHWARI

The Nitro is not the ideal off-road vehicle, but it get your around on the trails if you need to.
If you want to do this more often, I suggest these mods:

1. Bolt on the Skid plate set from an '08 Jeep Liberty--- do a search on Skid plates.

2. Modify the front bumper, the main ground clearance limitation is from the lower air-dam.

3. Tires- Don't try rough-rocky roads with the stock 20" low profile. There is not much room in the front wheelwells for larger tires, even if lifted, but you can buy more agressive tires in the stock size (see High-voltage Nitro's posts on this) A smaller wheel size will get you more sidwall, which you need if riding on rocks.

4. A few members have liftet their Nitro's a few inches and this could help. Again do a search on lift kits.
